I lived and worked in Southwest Florida for many years. When fishing on Lake Okeechobee in the Glades, a favorite way of fishing for Largemouth Bass is to hook a large shiner at the back or tail and attach a balloon as a float. The balloon offers little resistance and is quite visible even in the wind and waves. Pythons will eat the shiner and then attack the balloon. They are found over a very large portion of South Florida now because of their prolific breeding. Their increased numbers have become quite problematic.I sincerely hope that they don't create the same problems in your area. Sorry to hear about your chickens.Pythons are so plentiful in the Florida Everglades that they have threatened many local species of animals. Just Google and you will find reports of them with deer carcasses in their stomachs.
