Front-End Loader Worst things to do to a FEL

My greatest worry is backing up while lifting. Looking back and forgetting to stop lifting. ... Done it several times, getting to full height. Havnt been in a situation to pay the price yet.

Someone I know did just that with a big round bale on a set of forks,, darn near killed him.. He claims something must have happened to the joystick/control valve, and denied that he just kept his hand on the joystick while looking backward and dumped the bale on himself.. but an inspection of the loader control by the dealer and others found nothing amiss. I am guessing he does not realize what he done, and/or does not want to admit it.

Took me several hours to clean out my chainsaw from a load of dirt!

Even after reading part of this thread I was trying to convince myself I would not make some of these mistakes. Then last weekend after Some more fence work I went back to the garage and unloaded the hand tools - one of those plastic trays for mixing cement works great for a tool bin. Then I was of to the barn to unload the post driver, post puller, shovels etc. I still can't figure out why when I got to the barn I tipped the bucket and dumped every thing in the mud. Then I dropped the bucket on the pile of tools. At least I stopped short of running the over. I decided to lean them against a tree and let the pending rain storm was off the dirt. Now I am worried a out the next time I put tools in the bucket.

So....

How many people (besides me) have done more of the "don't" items than the "do" ?

I'm glad I had not read part of the do nots - digging, back scraping Wheels up, dragging, pushing over cut and dead fall trees etc - before finding and buying my JD670 because that's exactly what I intended to do and have done. On the other hand I now better understand how close to tipping over I came on day two while unloading the box scraper with the FEL raised had I not dropped it I am sure I would have had a bad day. Had I read this and other threads before hand I would have located the trailer differently and chained the BS closer to the FEL and not raised it as high Fortunately I did not have to learn from my mistake(s) again. Thank you

So ar some tractors more prone to tipping with FEL. An aquaintance told me of his friend who tipped his new Kubota onto its side 2x.

I'll wager 98% of tractors roll overs are operator induced.

That said, tractors without filled tires are more likely to roll those with filled tires...but that's not a particular brand situation.

People who raise their loaders high in the air (especially while moving) have more roll over's than those who do not.:)

Width of rear wheel set, weight on the rears both give stability. Weight in front of the front axle destabilizes by taking weight off the rears. High weight up front is hugely bad if you are accelerating backwards or braking or moving and turning ... or even sitting still on a side incline while raising the bucket. Enuf rear wheel stance and weight can counteract all this to a point. Some tractors are just better configured at delivery - or by the user.

Not sure I agree. Seems that lateral weight on the opposite side would be more important than front/rear weight distribution. Imagine a very heavy one ton front tire; to tip the rollover force would need to overcome 2000lb x lever arm regardless of front rear balance. No?

That would be ok except the front axle can pivot freely several degrees - so the tractor could tip a bunch before it hit the stop. ... probably too late. :confused3:

Not talking about a stop but rather counterweight of the tire opposite the direction of roll. If it is very heavy it would counteract the roll force.
