Sound like my Auger was built with the tiller , I had to fight it some also, the push me pull me thing and then the heavy Greece in the shaft, I was able to get the ring and bearings on the PTO but it just would not go on far enough to lock in,,,,used my leatherman file and hit the inside edges of the yoke and it was some what stiff but it slid on the rest of the way, did not want to file to much considering that it would wear on its own and loosen up.
00OOooo and tryin to get in there with a tiller and pull it and push it with that elmers Greece in the shaft, you must have been creating some new vocabulary, I was and it was only an auger, I raised the 3 pt. and flipped the top cover open over my PTO, i am guessing you were not so lucky with a flip top cover, just use a file down through the slots to clean up the edges some just so it will go on, it will get easier after each use,,,,,I use open gear spray Greece on all my pins and slip joints and Cat. 2 eyes, NAPA, comes out black but it is good stuff and works very nicely, if it is to sticky and slow moving parts back and forth just lightly tap a W-40 squirt.
GOOD LUCK
