Honestly, I found the factory discounts to be pretty comparable between Ford and Chevy when I recently purchased my truck. Believe it or not Dodge was the most expensive for what I was looking for. I think my Chevy had $500 more in factory cash available than Ford. They were really all pretty close.

Around here you can not find a eco boost. Plenty of 5.0 F150 trucks. I hear Toyota is highest, Nissan has some deals, and GM is nearly $10,000 off sticker along with Dodge having some good deals also.
Around here GM only sells on price. Ford and Toyota rule the roost. This is in the 1/2 ton segment. Weird to see but Toyota is very popular with the farmers. SuperDuty's rule the 3/4 ton and up segment with Dodge not too far behind. Not many Dmax with working folks but popular with the retirees and 5th wheelers.

GM gas 3/4 ton and up sell pretty good also.

I had a 2001 f150 4.6 v8 best mileage was 17, 18. Put 222000 miles on it before trading it in. Bought 2010 f150 4.6 3.53 gear ratio, in feb 2010. It was 77000 on it. No problems. Best mileage 23, usually tank mileage was 20 to 22. Bought 2011 f150, 5 liter 3.73 ratio. Mileage is best 19, 20. Work vehicle. Carrying some weight in truck. Also cap on bed. Has almost 22000 on it now picked it up August 2011. So say the least I put a few miles on them. I could have bought the 2011 with Eco boost, but was inpress with the look of the five liter in how clean it looked and every easy access to maintain. Compared to the Eco boost.
Eco boost does have a higher payload than the 5 liter, but the 5 liter is in my range of tolling. I just put too many miles on these engines to play beta site.
I was wondering if,the power felt in the Eco boost compared to the 5 liter is more, based on transmission shift points.
I was play in a parking garage listen to see how the 2010 sounded. Real nice.
So I was in the same garage with the 2011, did the same accelleration. But it shifted gear lowering RPM s still accelerating.
Just on a fun note 2011 I was traveling mass pike. Gas mileage computer was reading 99.9 mpg. Ok doing 70, going down hill. Just filled it up and reset the computer. But it was neat to see.

I should have added that I was only looking at 3/4 ton and up trucks. I know that there were much better incentives for Ford and Chevy half tons as both of my finalist dealers (Ford and Chevy) mentioned that fact. There were also more 2011 half tons left over than HD's and Super Duties, although I didn't look at what engines the trucks had.

As far as what people drive around here, I'd say that Ford, GM and Dodge are all well represented. You see a fair amount of Toyotas too, but not a lot of Nissans. You definitely see a lot of Ford diesels around here, and I'd say that most of the 2011 and newer Super Duties are diesels around here as the 6.2 doesn't seem terribly popular. GM gas HD trucks definitely outnumber the diesels, while I would say that Hemi powered Dodges very slight outnumber diesels (maybe 53/47).

Well thought I would provide an update. As I stated before I was unable to get the Ford dealers to deal. I stopped at a Ram dealer that had a Laramie Longhorn truck in a two tone sagebrush pearl/gold color combo that caught my eye. It was not equipped as I wanted but did take it for a test drive.

To make a long story short I did like the truck and the dealer located an exact match of the truck I wanted. They unlike the Ford dealers were willing to deal. I was able to buy a truck with more options and a longer warranty for almost $4000 less out of pocket than Ford could offer. So my opinion is that perhaps Ford is a little too proud of their product. Another way to look at it is perhaps this is a way to take advantage of the tax payer bailout by buying a new truck and keeping some money in MY pocket.

And yea, it's got a HEMI!

Have been working with a couple of dealers, we are just too far apart on price/trade. For comparison and grins I went to see a GMC and RAM dealership and money wise faired better, even taking the King Ranch option into consideration.

Since I am having no issues with my current ride, (a 2007 Avalanche Z71 with only 37000 miles), I think I will take a wait and see attitude. Wait to see if a better deal comes up and maybe see what 2014 models bring. I will not buy a 2013 anything, the number 13 and I clash.

Thanks for all the replies!

That's because government motors is not selling like ford, and dodge is also way down in sales. You can buy a Chevy or dodge but you will be replacing it sooner than a ford, so is it really a savings, longest lasting truck my arse. Terrible drive train compared to ford, GM trucks don't even bolt there beds on, they use spot welds, junk.

I did state in my original post that I did not want this thead to become a brand basher. I have been around plenty long enough to see that Ford is CERTAINLY NOT exempt from the junk screw up club.

Please enough brand bashing. If you have something constructive to post have at it.

Please read the no brand bashing sticky at the top of this forum. Also, take the time to be factual. It makes for a much better discussion.

If you would, post some mpg #s for the hemi. 390hp and 20+mpg sounds crazy, just want to see some real world numbers. What gear ratio did you get? Four or two wheel drive?

I've seen ads in the paper for a brand new Dodge that is similar to what I want in a Ford for thousands less. I'm not a fan of Dodge, but I am a fan of money. I've had quite a few Ford's and my current 1998 F250 has been a great truck. 180,000 trouble free miles on a 4.6 V8. Milage and the number of miles it has makes me want to replace it.

What engine did you get and what is the real world mpg's like compared to what they claim it to be?

How long is your bed? Finding a half ton truck with an 8 ft bed is next to impossible!!!

It is a 4x4 with the 3.55 axle. For the first 200 or so miles with mostly stop and go which includes a 25 mile round trip with the bass boat in tow the trip compuuter sits at 15.1 mpg. I will not get an actual calculation until I fill up. I will wait until I do the filling at least a couple of tanks to determine if the trip computer is accurate. I can tell you that while on the highway the indicator was around the 20 mpg mark a lot.
