I have no problem believing that shot with that particular pistol. They are awesome pistols. Several years back, my friend had one and I had a Ruger Mark II. We put many rounds through each target shooting. I liked my Ruger but I enjoyed shooting his pistol as well. My Ruger had a bull barrel and target sights and his Colt would shoot with it all day long.

I wish I still had it. I have a MK II now and really like it too, but the Colt had lots of hand work in it and it was beautiful.. The Ruger, while tough as nails, and a great shooter, is just not as smooth edged as that Colt. Who can forget that beautiful Colt bluing on those old pistols.? But the Colt really belonged to my dad (though I probably used it the most) and somewhere along the line it got traded for something or sold for groceries and is gone. Back in those days it was probably worth $50 dollars. What would it be worth today:eek:? Oh well I am just glad to have had the experiences with shooting it.

U should shoot the ground hog for a humane kill and not let your dog "play" with it.

My dog can't get a carry permit in our state.

That's not surprising. I used to shoot .44 pistol at 100 meters(106 yard?) offhand. Could consistently knock down steel pig, turkey, and chicken silhouettes.

I also keep a .44 pistol handy when I go to the back of the property and was surprised that it's fairly accurate up to about 25 yards - usually the distance where I surprise a ground hog when I walk through the break in the treeline. I've gotten 3 or 4 of them that way.

We had a woodchuck living in our shed. I attempted to trap him. Got that neighbor's stupid black and white cat instead....

Were you shooting a Thompson Center Encore or Contender?
