I was bragging to a friend about Big Tree park in Sanford, FL and when I searched it online I found this.

So sad. It appears that the fence should have been installed sooner, but hopefully it will aid in protecting the other tree.

Wow! That is so unthinking and idiotic.

I'm guessing you have been enjoying the thread on all the old, large, famous trees where folks have been posting great pics from all over the world. Then, to see something as senseless as this.... words just fail me.

And one of the bad fallouts of this is that all these trees then getto be fenced in, sorta' like putting the last of a species into a zoo. I feel, though likely necessary, that this is a real loss as well.

Then there's the part about how she describes herself as a "model" on facebook. A model she is not.

I think her picture should be in the state penn for the rest of her miserable life. Time to stop calling drug users victims and call them what they are criminals. Drug use is not a disease it is a crime

Uhhhhhh, if you click on the link to view pictures of the tree before it was burned you'll see that there are pictures there from as far back as 1953!! And in them there IS a fence around it then!! This was a deliberate act of idiocy...
