I really like the idea of carrying the chain, i am either carrying it in my bucket or looking around the property for where i last left it.

i will copy similar to you for the chain holder, great idea.

thanks for posting in detail

Joel

Hey Joel, I had to go back and search to find the thread I started last year on the chain bucket that I made for it. Here's the link to it below. Good luck!

It's easy to find a lost chain, just leave it a few months until the grass gets really long, then take your mower out. I've used this technique to find fencing wire on numerous occasions, it's very effective.

How did you cut all that wood without getting the tractor or chainsaw even a little dirty:D:D

Jeff
Well Jeff, I should have took a picture ''before'' I washed the tractor and cleaned up the chainsaw after I got done cutting firewood!!:D:D... Everything sure was a mess, Because it was ''mud season''!!

Nice idea, i have a 3005 so it looks the same, might build this idea, but my 36" bar might be to long, was thinking of trying a aluminum cam between plates of steel, so any blade will fit, double cam one little higher than the other so when you put the blade into the cam locks from down force. I dunno maybe it will work.

I started on this project last year around October but set it aside for deer season and just now got motivated to finish it up. I did post a sneak peek of it last December in another thread, but here are all the details and more pictures. As we all know, compact tractors are called compact for a reason.... and they don't leave much room to carry the essentials often needed when using the tractor. On my JD 790, I kept looking at the space between the right-side engine cover and FEL mast and thought I could make use of it.

Nice work. I just toss my saw into the bucket of my L4200. Of course, it IS possible that the saw (even when almost brand new) can bounce out and get run over by 8000 pounds of tractor. Theoretically...

Keith,
Thanks for the link!

How long of a chain can you put in the pipe ??

Bill

Oh gosh, haven't tried to fill it up with chains yet!! Right now it has a 20ft chain (3/8") in it and I'm *guessing* it takes up about 8-10 inches. Being 28" tall, you should be able to get least two of those in it, and possibly some room left over for a shorter one.

Kebo,
"I still can't weld"-no more excuses! Your creative talent has exceeded your construction capabilities! Buy a MIG welder and soar to new heights!
I recently took an evening adult school welding class, lost the "scared jitters" and bought a MIG unit, absolutely no regrets.

Well it will sure hold a lot of chain!!!:D.... Just what I need!, I've left chains in my bucket a few times and scooped up a load a dirt!

Thanks!
