545 D

Hi
I have found a used 545D that I may be interested in buying. The serial number for the tractor on the dealers web site is A440588 Can anyone tell what year this tractor is ??

i thik they started in 93.. past that don't know much about them.

no date code or model ID next to the sn on the bellhousing?

Ive run several 545 tractors well they are called landscape loaders or skip loaders. Then ones i used had a power down 3 point and with a power top link and side link for a Gannon box blade an usually a hydraulic scarifier. We used them finnish grades where our grader can get into and on jobs where our grader was too small to get into.

545 tractors do not have 3PT hitches with downpressure.

An "A" prefix Serial Number (Antwerp) is not going to be on a 545D. It would have to be a "C" (Romeo).

I'm going to disagree and say that the Romeo factory was closed prior to 545D production, and just about every 545D I have ever had to look at closely had an A prefix serial number.
But I can't access anything here at home that backs that statement up.

Edit:
A serial number list I have here shows 1987 as the last year for C-prefix Fords. 545D production began in Sept of 1992 so it's all but impossible for any 545D's to carry a C-prefix serial number. Most, if not all, were assembled in Antwerp. Basildon and Antwerp were the two primary tractor assembly factories for Ford from 1988 to 2000, along with Winnepeg and a factory in Mexico.

Thanks Guys for all the info. The tractor I was interested in wasn't what I was led to belive so I am still looking. If anyone knows of a good used one for sale (preferably close to Michigan), please let me know.
