Ballast Box, Was this a good deal?

I had seen different threads on ballast box modificatioins and thought I would explore the idea. I have a box blade for that I have been using for weight and think that the smaller profile of the ballast box could be useful. :thumbsup:

Last December I was at the local dealer and asked my salesman if they had any used ballast boxes? He said he had one at home that was just sitting there and that I could have it for $50.00. I gave him the money and he said he would get it to the dealer so I could pick it up. Due to the holidays and work I forgot that I hadnt had a call. Last Tuesday I recieved an email from the salesman that it was still sitting out back at the dealership and that I could get it anytime. I had one of the guys at work swing by and get it with the liftgate truck he had. He dropped it off at my house and I finally go around to looking at it about an hour ago. So...

Did I get a good deal??? :confused3:

JD prices the ballast box at $216. Suitcase weights are just over $50 each. Your salesman needs to learn how to value his merchandise. :confused3:

My friend had a pulling tractor with a half dozen JD mini weights. He has since sold the tractor but I am not having good luck persuading him to sell the weights. He knows I want them and if they come up for sale they will transfer to my garage.
Incidently... the box and weights was a steal. You can tell it is a factory piece by the spaced welds.
