Plenty around here too, hear them a lot but rarely see them. I don't think I'll be sticking my foot out for them to chomp on!

We have plenty of 'yotes, as well. A pack pinned a doe against our back fence a couple of years ago and ate a good part of her before I ran them off. I had to put her out of her misery and hauled her to the back of our property where they finished consuming her.

My Gordon Setter ran after one and chased it over the hill; I guess the 'yote didn't realize he just wanted to play. He was ok when he returned but I was concerned that he'd be led back to the pack and attacked.

I'm more concerned with the growing populations of cougars and reintroduced wolves. I don't go too far afield unarmed, these days.

Clumber, Do you hunt with your spaniel?

Why not simply respond to that thread, instead of creating a new one?

Just wanted to bring it to the attention of the folks in the Power-Trac forum.

showed the video to my kids , 12 &15 years old , they were clueless to the dangers of wild animals, everyone should be educated and aware, way to often movies portray wild animals as domesticated and safe, I grew up on a farm and seen first hand what coyotes and coydogs were capable of and they were hunted on a regular basis to protect the investment we had in the livestock

I have heard stories of how a female coyote in heat will lure males dogs into an ambush... Glad your Gordon returned safe.

The Clumbers are show dogs soon to retire from the ring. They're not formally hunt trained, but have natural ability and desire to track and flush. I am not much of a hunter but love to see one work a field.

My girlfriend's 5 pound Yorkshire Terrier chased a 300 pound black bear off the property last summer. It was pretty amusing. The Yorkie came out of the woods in one piece too.
