There were scouts teaching cooking last year at summer camp, that were lighting their charcoal chimneys with white gas.

I remember that no matter what camp out we were at you had to cook over a fire until you were a 1st class scout. We did have gas stoves but for the most part everyone cooked over a fire. I still remember making eggs in an orange peal and when we go fishing for bullheads at night we will mud and bake potatos.
The other scouts liked to turn up their noses when I was cooking, but they thought twice when the scoutmaster was making them wash their dishes and I was off exploring.
... But when they have to wash dishes twice, because they put them away with a red greasy film on them...![]()
Invariably they'll try to wash the dishes in cold water. Teach them early to put the kettle on the fire when dinner starts. Then there'll be hot water when dinner is over, and they only have to wash the dishes once.

Lol I remember the first bread on a stick I cooked up. It was burnt and raw at the same time lol.
