Yanmar tug of war

/ Yanmar tug of war #61
Ironically, after warning everybody not to try this for themselves, I find myself repeatedly checking to see if anyone else has tried the tug of war yet, perhaps with different results.

Winston, did your friend settle on a tractor yet?

I think you set the bar on that one 284 and convinced all of us they are almost the same and that 4wd makes a little tractor work like a big tractor!

Well, yes and no. The pulling force is achievable by a smaller tractor if it has 4wd and enough weight to get close. The performance disking is not the same. The YM2000 is better. Since it produces more power but about the same pulling force, it will pull that load faster. For a plow, disk, and some other implements, speed makes them work better.

Dragging a scraper blade or doing loader work isn't really as dependent on power. The bigger tractor still lifts more, and the longer, wider wheelbase gives more control in some situations. Larger tires make a big difference. I expect oversized tires, as California has on his, would have yielded different results were my tractor equipped that way.
