A good majority of us have owned more than one tractor, we all have seen changes in what our needs may be and upgraded to a bigger tractor or bought something a little smaller to suit your needs better. Lets see what kind of tractor's Y'all have had.

I have owned two tractors:

First one was my Yanmar YM169D, by far the best first tractor i could have asked for. I wish i still had it, but in order to get the skid steer I have now I had to sell it.

Second came 1 month after I got the Yanmar, it was Simplicity 9518. I bought it as a project, it didn't run when I got it and it soon became a deep money pit, in short to avoid getting deeper into that pit i sold it non-running.

I have also had 8 different riding mowers, but I have always stuck with my John Deere L118, it was my second riding mower. I just sold my last one yesterday so I am down to 1 again, we will see how long that lasts.

I gotta say, I miss the little Yanmar, even though I have a 61 hp Deere skid steer now i will be getting another tractor in the future.;)

How far back do you want to go? My first was a JD 70 diesel, then a 720D, 1948 "V" Avery (I bought it in 1970 to plow gardens after I left the farm). Around 27 years ago, when we bought our current property, I bought a 1958 JD 520, then inherited Dad's 720D. Later got started with L&G's (all JD); 1st, 69-140 H1, then 65-110, 67-112, 71-110, & 74-112. These have all been sold to finance my current L&G collection, plus my JD 790 CUT.

Well if you want to go back to the BEGINNING!!!!
I started with my fathers team of Percheron /Clydesdale cross pulling a IH rubber tired ground driven mower six foot cut and a ten foot dump rake with a six foot bull rake to tumble the windrows then pitched onto a flat hay rack that had a model A rear axle and a 48 Chevy front X built into the front pole.
Next was an 880 David Brown with loader about 42 HP 2x4 with diff lock and a loader. Miss that one a lot. Horses never had a good parking brake and use fuel when they are not working.

I started with a JD 2030 gas. I was looking for either a JD 830 or JD 1530 but could not find any. Later I bought a JD 2030 diesel for better fuel economy and sold the JD 2030 gas tractor. I was still looking for a JD 830 or JD 1530.

Next I decided I "needed" :D MFWD so I started looking for a JD 5X25 series, that brought sticker shock compared to what I paid for the 2030s. I kept looking a long time, then the 5M series came out. I thought this would drop the price on 5x25 series. WRONG! They went up! Every now & then I would look at 6000 series and finally found a 6415 for a LOT less then the 5x25 series I had been seeing.

Here's a picture of the last (Deere 3120), I'll have to break out the scanner for the rest as they were before the digital age! I'll have to dig up some pictures though.

I started with a 8N for some rough bush hog work cleaning out tree lines etc. It was restored 10 years earlier and ran great and looked pretty good. Jumped from the 8N to a MF 35 Deluxe. It was a great tractor. I had the Amish paint it and spent some money on valve seals and the multi-power feature. I sold it with 5,300 hours on it and it was still going strong. Next was a MF 231s 45 hp and my first diesel machine. It's been great to, with no problems to speak of. It's a great tractor for mowing, gear drive and no 4wd.
It's in my barn now. Next came the MF 2615 which I just bought in January with a loader and 4wd, 48 hp. The jury's still out on this one. It has 6 hours on it and I almost wish I hadn't bought it, but the deal was too sweet to pass up. So all this happened in the course of 17 years.

Minneapolis Molene (s?) was my first, followed by Kubota 2900, and Cat Backhoes and Skid steers. Also bought a John Deere LA (green acres show) just for the fun of it. Next came a Kubota 3230 and two weeks ago, a Kubota 4240 HSTC FEL (with cab air conditioning). 80% of my tractor work is to help neighbors, so my honey felt that I should at least be comfortable when providing free work. Life is good and I love my Kubota...............right after my wife........and my pets of course

I bought a Deere 670 (16.5 PTO HP) when we first moved here. Most of the work was finish mowing (tractor came with a 60" RFM) and snow pushing. Also did a few acres of right-of-way brush cutting...

Since my lot is about 60% wooded, I wanted a chipper so more PTO HP was in order...that, and although my 670 did a great job with the 60" rotary cutter (on that right-of-way), more PTO HP wouldn't hurt.
So, I went for a 24 PTO HP Deere 790.

I really liked the 790 except for reverse gear...low was just too darn slow and reverse high was too fast (both at PTO RPM), so I tried out a 3320 with the reverser transmission, but I really didn't want to go into debt.

My dealer called me about a Deere with a 12x12 reverser transmission. The tractor attached is a 30 PTO HP Deere 4400.
Definitely more PTO power then I need, but it is a good machine and that's the one I have now.

Dad, Grandad, and I have restored several old tractors for the last several years. If my PC wasn't down, I would post pics, but for now I have the IPAD, which is almost useless. I'll try to remember them all.
'20's? Wallace, '20's McCormick Deering, '20's Hart Parr, '37 JD model H, '41 JD Model A, '52 JD model A, '49 JD Model G, '39 JD Model B, '40's McCormick Farmall A, '40's McCormick Farmall B, '50 Farmall M (currently in restoration), '50 JD Model D (I learned to farm with this, with a "self powered" swather with a Wisconson motor), '40's AC D17 (IIRC), '50's Minneapolis Moline M, and a '52 JD Model R. Those are all from the old farm back in Minnesota. Now, personally , I have a '69 Case 930ck, a '71 Massey 165, '84 Zetor 5011, and a '71 AC 175. I'll leave it at that, because my brain is tired and my fingers are cramping.

My 1st tractor was one I made. It was real strong and fun to have. Wish I had it now. Then I got the one that everyone in the world knows Ford 8n. Used it for moving boats. Then one day it broke the short drive shaft and I had a $30,000 to $40,000 boat setting out had to have the cops help me keep a eye, on it no sleep that night. Went down the next day and got a new 1980 JD950. Then got another JD950 for our 2nd tractor it was used. Moved boats and mowed with them until 1997 with 0 trouble. I keep the one I got new and traded it in for Kubota L3010 in about 2003. after that a L3130, then the one I have now is a L4240. Added a Kubota B7800 and a BX2660 and use 1 or 2 everyday.

Hey Guys,

My first tractor was a non running Oliver 60. It was given to me by a friend as a project in the late 70's. Never did get it running. Next was a Allis Chalmers WD45 which I bought in the mid 80's. It ran (sort of) when I got it. I put a 6' blade on it and graded my driveway with it. The block split so I parked it and wound up selling it to a guy from Oklahoma who wanted to restore it. My next tractor, which I bought in 95, was a Ford 2000. I mowed my 5 acres with it. In 98 I went into business for myself installing lighting systems for sports stadiums. I bought a Koyker FEL for the 2000 and used it in my business until 2000. Then I ordered a new New Holland TN70D with a 32LA self leveling loader and a set of remotes on the front to run the side shift on my pallet forks. To this day I use this tractor as a do all around my job sites. It is small (and light) enough that I can easily haul it and the other equipment I need with my '06 D3500 and a 22' 14k goosneck trailer and stay legal. This is handy since I have installed lighting systems in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Illinois and Utah. In '05 I purchased a used NH LX 565 skid loader which I recently traded for a 2002 LS 170. Over the last few years I have been doing some dirt work, plowing and tractor mowing to supplement my income.

I love my TN70D and I like the LS 170 too but I sure would like to have an enclosed cab, heat, AC and pilot controls in the skid! Getting kind of creaky in my old age.

Sorry for the long post (and no pictures),

Tim

I started with a Ford 8n for several years to mow and move snow. Traded for a Ford 860 for the live PTO. Then added a IH Farmall 656 with a Leon Loader to clean out horse paddocks and move big round hay bales. Still have the 860, using it

/ Your previously owned tractors.... #20
Well, screwed that up didn't I. As I was saying the 860 is used for mowing, plowing, dialing, blazing and a little bit of everything. Finally got rid of the 656 and actually bought a new tractor, a Case IH Farmall 65A. It is used for loader work and hay.
