When I start to move the tractor begins to go then it surges as though the transmission just got a delayed flow of fluid? Especially noticeable when in third (high) range. Fluid levels are fine, and pedals seem to be properly adjusted. Anybody know what's causing this?

HST or geared? The HST has sensors or something that helps the driver by trying to match the demands on the tractor to the input of power on the HST models. Don't know that much about the geared since I only have one of them and don't use it much. I think the surge is common on the HST. Get on a flat paved road, no dips or hills, and set it at a constant speed with no change in throttle pressure and see if it does it. The slightest change in demand, hill up or down, will change it by increasing or like downshifted.

The B3300su is HST, and has no sensors on the transmission.

The surge is normal and shouldn't be worried about it. It is just the change in pressure in the pumps that is causing it. A little bit unrefined, but not a problem by any means.

Common in the B's. Normal....unfortunately.:(

My B3200 is the same, I don't worry about it. I have had it for 2.5 years and it actually has decreased a noticeable amount but is still present.

Thanks for the responses! I've owned L series tractors in the past and never had this experience so thought I should look into it. You've put my mind at ease - and yes it is a bit unrefined, isn't it?!

My former tractor (B7510) and my current B7800 both do the same, especially when used cold. When the fluid warms up it is not bad. If fine movement is required just use Lo range.

just wondering, what type of terrein (hill/flat) you are on and what rpms are you using when this happens to you?

i have a b7800 (very simular to b3300su) and this has not been a problem for me for the 850+ hours i have used it. the only time it will do this for me is if it is cold and oil not fully warmed up, or in too high a gear for use, or to low rpms. i run my rpms at least 2300 almost all the time. maybe i just got lucky with my tractor too since a lot of others mentioned this in this thread. anyway just some info for thought.

You got lucky, my 2620 I had was smooth as silk yet my 3200 is jerky no matter what rpm it is at.
