The couplers are Pioneer 3/8" couplers, nothing special abut them.
Look inside the female couplers and make sure the flat tip of the poppet is centered in the opening. If it is at an angle it will not mate the with the male QD poppet correctly and allow oil to flow out of that connection but not allow oil to flow from the male to the female.

...says I need to bring to shop for warranty. What busts my chops is he will be driving right by my house on another service call he is making today.
Nothing like great dealer service... (fyi, most dealers/brands rules are that you need to get the tractor to the shop).

If they are standard 3/8 couplers are they metric threads? I was going to take the one I think is a problem totally off tomorrow to get a good look and if need replace it. Are there better brand or units out there. It appears they just are threaded to the housing and hose. I have several sources available to me. also if I take them off should I use Teflon tape before screwing them back together?

No word or call back from dealer yet.

Thanks

If they are NPT, you can use Teflon past, or Loctite red or blue thread sealer.

Try and match the couplers, but if not, use a set of any brand.

I just got off the phone with the service department at Wallace Tractor and Equipment. What a great bunch of folks. Don took the time to walk through my issue and confirmed what SSdoxie and J_J said that they are 3/8 NTP connectors. Thanks Folks. I should be able to get them at NAPA, etc. Don is pretty sure one of the units went bad. Don also confirmed using Teflon tape on the threads before re-assembling. My neighbor also has some thread seal he uses on his hydraulic hose fittings that is compatible with hydro fluid.

I am not the best mechanically inclined and he explained how to swap out the hoses to verify the bad connection and a trick of using multiple zip ties to identify where the hoses came from and go so I don"t need to go get back from under neath to trace the color coding from the loader arm.

I also verified that I can use other hydro/trans fluids.

They also can ship me supplies (Filters/parts) so when the time comes I will check the prices with them

Last - my dealer service manager just called and he will be by to check it out as a courtesy. Ill do the work myself if it is the coupler as this is part of the loader attachment which is out of warranty. I don"t normally wine, but it appears to have made an impression

More later - Thanks for all the help

Update
Service manager did come by and check it over. Confirmed bad coupler and they may still be under warranty. He also may have discovered another problem as to my low power. He noticed the the tractor appeared to be bogged down (PTO dragging when not engaged) When he pushed the clutch in there was a significant change in power. Much faster response in hydraulics. He suspects something is dragging somewhere to cause a load.

He was very apologetic and we parted on good terms. He will be checking on the issues and calling me back today and understands my current situation of needing it fixed quickly.

More later:(

More people are doing away with using the Teflon tape in hyd, because the possibility of Teflon threads and little pieces jamming up relief valves, and or anything with a small orifice.

I would recommend that you get the Teflon paste or the Loctite red or blue thread sealer. NAPA probably has that also.

Who ever told you to use the Teflon tape,. has probably used it forever, but has never had to repair valve and stuff because of the Teflon pieces. It has been proven to be a problem because people don't clean off or clean out the threads when the fittings are separated. NPT fittings were not made to be usable over and over, as the threads are deformed every time they are re-tighten.

If you have to use the Teflon tape, use it at your own risk.

Thanks J_J

I hear you clearly on the Teflon paste or the Loctite red or blue thread sealer. I happen to have all 3 on hand. but I better check to see if the red or blue is still usable. Been a while since last used:laughing:

I do not think I have ever read a single bad post re Wallace Tractor.

That says something to me

First thing tomorrow AM tractor is being picked up and taken to dealer. After removing and cleaning both QD's it still does not work. I made very sure the QD's were clean and re-connected correctly and blew through the fittings to be sure they were clear.

So folks know they are not standard 3/8 Pioneer fittings but special o-ring ones made in Italy.
They were stamped FASTER NV 14 3 8 SAEM-07F0 and 3 8 SAEF 08A1

So when I needed it most it still wont work - more later

Not a happy camper right now
