I looked real quick but didn't see where you posted your 'what tool to use next' thread? Could you post a link for me? I'm really interested in the responses because I will be in your situation sometime this summer with an acre or so.

I was thinking a harley rake would work best, but not sure what you would do about all the roots sticking up???

What I did was went over it several times with the box blade scarifers all the way down. Then rakes it by hand, cut anything sticking up, then repeated the process. That pretty much got everything out of there. I did this over several hours.

Now I think I am going to buy a tiller, for my purposes.

I have a 2000 B7300 and when ever I notice that it seems "sluggish" or "underpowered" I check the 3PT lever and normally find that it is not in NEUTRAL but either UP or DOWN position. Moving back to NEUTRAL and my power is restored...just a thought

Just a thought that I had. The amount of progress you can make digging and pulling stumps can be greatly effected by the softness of the soil. I find that if it hasn't rained for several weeks, that my soil is as hard as rock (well, nearly so) and is very difficult to work on. Several days after a hard rain and suddenly I can pull out all sorts of stumps that I never could budge before. It might be less about your tractor, and more about the soil.

:cool:Also there is the practise / experience factor to consider. When you start with a new machine you spend time thinking about what lever to move which way to do what you want. As you add hours of seat time doing complicated tasks you get so you can do any task without thinking about it beyond deciding what to do, your hand or foot just goes to the right lever and pushes it the right direction. Also you learn what works and what just makes the wheels spin and you stop trying the options that just waste time. I would expect an operator that had two hundred hours experience in the seat of a particular machine to be twice as efficient as a newbie that was new to the machine and had few hours doing similar work on other machines. Your not getting older ? Your getting better. !:)
