yanmar breaks

I have a Yanmar 1810 that the right break keeps locking up. I removed the break linkage and tapped the break arm back and forth lightly. I can only move it with the diff locked in. Any ideas short of removing the tire and housing to lube the pads and rotor.

Have you greased the pivot points for the brakes recently? If you do have to pull the tire and open up the brake housing, it's not a bad job. If you just want to get the tractor to be usable, you could simply disconnect the bad brake and count on the the good brake to stop the tractor until you have more time to deal with fixing it right. My YM1700 only had 1 brake that worked when I bought it, until I took the bad side apart and adjusted the brake. Make sure you have at least one good brake before you start rolling...

I have had several do the same thing. You might get lucky with a penetrating oil on the shaft where it goes into the brake housing. That is where most of them get stiff. There is an o ring inside but water still gets to it. Like they said, it isn't that bad of a job to take it apart and break the shaft loose and clean and grease it.

I have opened this thread twice now expecting about reading about a broken yanmar as the title reads "Yanmar Breaks" like it broke down, instead of reading yanmar BRAKES.

Semantics i know and im not one to talk about spelling, i just laugh each time i click it and am like what??

I think we should give this new member a Break about his Broken brake, I haven't seen him chime back in on this issue, perhaps he has give up on us and left for Spring Break Vacation,
