Yup...I agree, the changes I have had to make sure didn't come easy...helps to be retired though...I fix my own stuff mostly...never did get used to livin' high on the hog though. Traveled a bit and found lotsa poverty and lotsa extravagance but never really saw anyone smile alot. Must be the devil's turn.

Big woop is right...I have been paying $4.68/gal for the longest time and our provincial government just released their 2012 budget and hiked the gas tax another 9.5 cents a gallon.

So boo hoo...I feel so bad for those paying less than us. We make the dam stuff and send it south and get screwed in the process.

Ya but thats $4.68 Canadian... isnt that like $2.00 US??

sorry, couldnt help myself.

When the wife and I went thru Canada recently, i was shocked by 2 things:
1. Trying to convert Liters to Gallons. Jimmy Carter promised me i wouldn't have to do this.
2. The cost per Liter (Gallon) SUCKED.

If i tried to get all the contractors in my area to agree to a set fee i could get arrested for price fixing (its happened ). How come oil companies cant be arrested for the same things.

It has been happening here. Big big fines and jail time.

The latest of a string of charges

Price fixing

yup... and yet just drive around your town and i bet EVERY gas station has the exact same price set on their pumps. when one changes theirs the others change theirs within hours.

If thats not the definition of price fixing...what is.

I'm afraid it is only going to get more expensive.

I really could see myself in a nice new truck and every time I felt the urge a little voice in the back of my head said to just make do with what I have.

My Silverado is a 91 and my Service Van is 1985...

The one break California does have is trailer tags are $18 and cover 5 years...

Fuel here has always been high... especially the Bay Area.

Make your car/truck look like a trailer... and your set.

I spend about $1600 per month on gas, sometimes more. In reality its not such a bad thing. I am seeing more manufacturing being brought back to the states from overseas because of the high price of shipping so the high prices do some good. I do not like it as much as the next guy but the truth is we were spoiled. I have traveled all over the world for years as a pilot and I can tell you as much as 10 years ago I was seeing $5-8 per gallon prices in other countries. Fuel did not follow inflation. Remember, those of you wanting cheap fuel that fuel is power. Not power for your engine but power in the world. I would rather pay not for imported oil and use others products and keep ours in the ground for when its really needed.

see, that's what I don't understand. there's a gast station not 2 miles from my house that is always $.10 higher then anywhere else within a 15 min drive. they're the only gas station in my town so I know darn good and well their prices are because they don't have competition. now, drive 15 mins down the road and there's 4 gas stations right off the interstate and they ALL are within a penny of each other. I had always heard gas stations right off the interstate were always the highest because they'd catch tourists that didn't know the area well. that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. the other excuse I heard was "well the gas stations with the lower prices are the one's the fuel trucks don't have to drive so far to get to." If that were true then the fuel trucks that run through here are CLOSER to the gas station that's $.10 higher and the trucks have to travel FURTHER to other stations that are much cheaper.

RollingFarms,

What is the $800 vehicle tax? Is it annual, like a registration fee?

Such whining....

Move to Europe where gasoline has been over 4 bucks a gallon for years. Where license plates and vehicle registrations are 3 rimes what it is here.

We have it made. Gas and diesel is cheap here.............

Of course no one in Europe drives a 350 Ford or s 1 ton Chevy to the grocery store. They all drive cars sized in direct ratio to fuel cost. Trucks are for commercial entities, not suburbanites trying to 'play the role'.....

You bought it, pay for it.

Economy of scale my friends..... Wake up.
