I've been fortunate that I haven't had to work until recently. I did have a pretty enjoyable hobby to keep me entertained though - USMC 1982 to 2011 - Cobra helicopter pilot.

I have a good young man, son of active duty Navy Phy Assistant (Doc) who is trying to get into academy (He is at Valley Forge prep now) and USMC Cobra Pilot is one of his top dream jobs he wants. I might ask you to speak to him sometime sir.

My Avatar pretty much sums it up . Worked in production for 11 years after high school , then 10 more as a lithographer , 2 years as a company driver then ever since , run my own show and have never looked for anything else .

Great hobby, lucky guy!

Out of the nearly 8,000 flight hours I have in multiple helicopters, I enjoyed flying the Cobra the most. (4 years in the Army) Actually, the comparison isn't even close.....:laughing:

Front seat is the best view/ride in aviation. Picture a 3d tractor with a cannon, rockets, and missiles.

15 years in an orphanage learning woodwork, mechanics, electronics.

22 years US NAVY P-2, P-3, first 10 as Aviation Electronics tech, next 12 as Aviation Antisubmarine Warfare operator. 4 years Civil Service as Instructor. 20 years Landscaping/Lawn Service, and sprinkler installation and repair.

Just doing small projects now, and helping my friends with their projects.

I am 72 now and still hanging in there.

As a kid i thought one of the coolest jobs in the world would be to design and test large equipment. It is what pushed me to ME.

Schooled Mechanical Engineer, in the engineering feild for 10 years. Late last year i finnally made it to Caterpillar. I work at Cat's Tech Center in Mossville IL, were my title is Countershaft Transmission Development Engineer. Currently running a No load test stand testing a "prototype" countersaft transmission for the 950/962 Med Wheel Loader. Technically I help develop shift control software but really i have fun playing with big transmissions!

Ive also been a Volunteer firefigher for the past 3 years, FF2 cert and First responder, currently serving on the Limestone Fire protection district. We have 5 houses and respond to 2000 calls a year. Our district covers schools, churches, heavy industry, Peoria county jail, Agriculture (farms), 3 trailer parks and 4 miles of interstate 474 including part of the interchange at I-74 and 474

Previously i was a truss engineer for 5+ years which is why you see me way in heavly on the truss questions that come up from time to time about building pole barns etc.

I worked in management and engineering after college. Later went into technical sales and currently Sales Manager for Areospace/Nuclear job shop.
