By the time we replaced the old, rusting cover on this chimney, obviously the damage had already been done. Looking for the best way to remove the rust now that we have a new stone based cap.
I've seen numerous recommendations for muriatic acid and I did try that on one small spot to test and it seemed to work ok, but some say that this acid will damage the stone and mortar.
Also saw links to some other possibilities such as this Klenztone product.
Would appreciate any input re. personal experience with this kind of project.
