reverse issues on my toro 724-z zero turn

The mower works great going forward,but going backwards isnt very good.its ok on flat groung or going backwardd down hill, but it will not move if im trying to go backward up any kind of incline.i just boight it and have no clue about them. Does anyone have any info of what possible issues may be.

Have you checked the fluid level and condition? Could just be a linkage thing.

I've had 2 Toro Z Masters, and I have never experienced this type of problem. Normally, if the machine won't move, it won't move in either direction (assuming the problem is with the hydro pumps. wheel motors, or hydro fluid). It may be the linkage controls need adjusting or is it possible your wheels are just spinning since you can back on flat ground and downhill? I can easily lose traction and over spin my tires with my Toro on a hill and have to be fairly gentle with the control levers to prevent that.

Is this machine new? If so, a call to the dealer should get you on the road to recovery. If its used I'd talk to seller to see if he was having any problems like that.

The dampners or struts on the hydro sticks (levers) could be worn out.. Is the machine new or used??? If used, how many hours?

When it won't move in reverse, have you looked to see if the wheels are spinning? Or maybe you're not as dumb as I was.:laughing: Fortunately, I found that was the problem before I talked to the dealer about it.
