How about a totem pole? 
One of these days I'm going to start on one. Be a fun way for kids to learn how to swing an axe.
I must pile up a few truckloads of pine logs each year as we open up new land and clean up the down trees from storms etc. I have a saw mill only a mile away....but dont have the time to get a good load together to sell. I got such a mix of wood sizes that nobody would fool with it.

I spoke with the guy at the sawmill. These were 16"-24" logs with no knots. Not your typical pulpwood. He wasn't interested. He said that the last load of pine he bought rotted before he had a buyer, because nobody wants pine rough cut lumber. Around here they all want poplar, white oak or red oak. If it had been white oak he would have paid a premium for it.

that is mighty gracious of you. I don't care if it pine or poplar or hardward. I have a use for them all as long it doesnt emit anything toxic.
Ditto that. I burn cedar in my shop because it heats fast and doesn't burn very long. Works great when I'm out in the shop for only a few hours. I come home, make a fire out there, eat dinner, and then go out to a warm shop.
Of course, the only reason I burn cedar for firewood is that I have a lot of it, and I don't know what else to do with it. Lose a few every year, it seems.

Yea thats cause you live in the south like me. Those of us in the east and south have plenty of hardwood. I dont cut much pine as it takes just as much effort as the hardwood and you get half to 2/3 the heat out of it, so its not a wise use of my time. Thats why its given away for free around here. It still burns and gives off heat, its good for eary and late season when your not running wide open in the bitter cold. Also as some put it to me, out wet and in the upper midwest, canada and places like alaska, there is no hardwood or either its way to expensive. there are many places that ONLY burn pine as they have no access to HW. The HW thats there sells for double to triple the pine price.
So cause you see $200/cd dont mean you or i could sell pine for that but some probly can.
