mine is causing me a lot of problems lately because it won't disengage, it's already been repaired under warranty once but now am out of warranty. i know i am not alone as i have read of others here having same issue. i have lubed it a few times last time with CLP but no longer helps. today while at the dealer i was looking at the new L3200's and noticed the mini lever/cable has been replaced by a solid lever which sits below the seat on the floorboard and is directy connected to the arm that goes inside the tranny. i am wondering if anyone has thought of replacing theirs with this type of lever. it would take some fabrication and some thought but it seesm like it could be done. what do you think? anyone working on this currently?

I have thought that if I have trouble with the PTO lever I would build a mechanical linkage. I am at 320 hours on my 2005 L3400 and no trouble yet. I lube the cable twice per year.

Does your tractor sit outside? Mine is garaged. In the winter, after I blow snow, I always make sure the cable is dried off so water does not seep in.

I also disengage and push the clutch in at the same time. I noticed this takes much less force on the lever.

If mine does go out I'll be enlisting one of my customers (machine designers and builders) to make one for me.

Hmm.. in the past the levers were only available on the gear drive versions of the L series. My L3400 DT has the lever on the floor pan, and has had zero problems with it. Kind of nice actually, you can disengage the PTO with a flick of your foot if you want to.

now that you mention it what i saw was the 3200 gear drive. i tried to lube mine some more and after further looking it's kinked up top and starting to fray. i am going to price a new cable and go from there.. i discovered i can reach down under the seat where the cable meets the transmission to manually disengage until i get a new cable. mine is not under cover all the time but is if i am not using it for extended periods of time (eg winter time)..

i replaced my cable today and still have the same problem of it kinking on the lever end, i have to hold the rubber boot "straight" with one hand and disengage the the lever with the other. it seems the cable could be alot shorter but my angles are straight at both ends so i know that is not the problem. could the cable have gotten twisted while i was tightening the nuts and this is causing a bit more resistance inside the cable covering? are there any other adjustments that could be made??

Are you disengaging the PTO after it is stopped?

There is a rake angle on the cams that make it harder to disengage when stopped.

Not to hi-jack, but how do you like the backhoe on the L3400? That was something I wanted but I had to wait. Is it a Kubota or aftermarket?
