82 YR DIED FROM FARM TRACTOR

Went to my Chiropractor last Thur . While there he tells me 4 weeks ago his father (82) was out using the farm tractor. He pulled up to the gate got off tractor to unlock gate. We know that part of the accident. Dr was telling me he thinks his dad left the tractor in N because it is just almost flat. Dr is thinking from what they found ,he and his brother plus the ambulance crew and maybe others. The tractor started to move, Dad thinks he can jump up on tractor to get it stopped. They're guessing he lost his footing while trying to get on tractor. fell off step and tractor rolled on the middle to lower part of his body. Well with no one around ,he is stuck with tractor on part of his body till he passed away. Dr told me it wasn't a instance death. They found his Dads gloves off and under the back of his head plus his hands under his head. He was lying on his back when they found him..

As Dr and all the rest of us have said ...Work and be safe.... Accidents can happen in the blink of a eye.

May his dad rest in peace...

My condolences to his Family. As stated earlier, accidents can happen anywhere, at anytime, and in a flash of a moment.

That's sad. I once got my ford ranger stuck on a stump and had the thing in neutral. I was lifting and pushing it off by hand when it suddenly started rolling back.

I did the stupid thing and ran along side it going down hill trying to jump in and stop it. I was dragging along the ground and got scraped up. It could have been worse.

I said if a vehicle or any thing starts rolling away I wouldn't try and stop it unless someone's life was in danger if it rolled away.

And that unless came sooner than I thought. A year after the incident with my ford ranger. I was at walmart and these 2 kids 5 and 2 years old were in a car.

The mom had just got out and forgot to take the keys out. Well the 5 year old decided to lock the doors and wouldn't let his mom back in.

Well I got out of my truck and preceded to help her try and get the kid to unlock the door, and said I would bust the window if he didn't unlock the door.

All the while he's just laughing at us. Well then he decides to put it in reverse and it starts taking off down a hill and was heading right down into a highway with alot of traffic.

I smashed the window with my elbow while running along side the car. Got the car unlocked and was able to stop that car just a few inches before it got to the highway where semi's were barreling down.

My elbow got cut up but everyone was okay and no one got seriously hurt or died.

That was very scary.

And I am so glad that everything turned out okay.

The mother of those kids said she will always remove her key first before she gets out.

That's a terrible thing, after 82 years. No telling what he survived in that time, only to die like that.

Thank you for your heroic efforts, I'm glad to hear that you saved the children.

I just wish that more people could understand that, Semi's weighs 80,000 lbs.(40 tons).........and do not have the stopping ability of the 2,500 lb car they are driving.

It doesn't necessarily sound like a horrific death to me. He knew the end was upon him and he was at peace with it when it came.

Groo ,yea it sounds like he was at peace ..

Chad22 , If you hadn't been there sounds like there could have been 2 funerals or at least a good chance of someone would have been hurt. You are the hero ,knowing the sites of the WalMarts I've seen in SW PA all have a big long slope down to usually a 4 lane highway.
