While shredding the weeds on some of our hunting club trails, I developed a small pinhole leak on the diesel tank. When I got back to the camp, I tried to put a screw into the hole to stop the leak, but it didn't work. I had just repaired a tire on my Kubota ZTR a few days earlier so I got the tire repair kit from my truck and stuck one of the tire plugs into the hole and it worked. Hopefully when I return to the camp and replace the fuel tank I won't find one big puddle of diesel on the shop floor!!!!!!! The tire repair kit will be standard from now on in my tractor tool box.

You could drain the fuel out of it and then try to melt it back togeather. By heating a metal tool like a screw driver really hot then "pushing" the plastic toward the hole. Would of been easier before the screw went in. Maybe you can get some of the plastic in a plastic weld kit and fix it permanantly.

I fixed a spray tank i have that way. I metled it and pushed the plastic back over and then tried melting a plastic drink bottle over the spot. It was a pin hole as well, hasent leaked in a year?

I bet it springs another one even if your able repair the old Dry Rotted one. New is only around 90.00$ Used Cheap!!! Cost of lost Fuel 4 plus a gal. time having to Rig it. Time lost at camp "Fun time" The Worst!!! Getting PO Trying to Renig it when it happens again :D Just not worth replaceing it. Esp for what? Loosen 2 Straps and about the same in cost.

Good point Cary, i really did not mean to run my fix, that was to get him buy till he can get another tank in it.

I am thinki9ng about foaming my front tires forthe same reason you mention. I get a flat have to take tire off find my guy near the farm to fix it and spend $10 or so each time. This last time he was not even around. I spen 1.5 hours on my tractor befroe the flat, it still 2 weeks later is in the yard of my farm house on blocks. Even if i spend $50 tire in the long run it will be worth it as i will have no more flats. Esp when you consider i live 3 hours from the farm!!

Continuing into left field... wouldn't it be better to fill them with calcium? Then your wheels are solid AND you add weight to the front and lower the center of gravity.

I've already got the new tank to replace the old one. It's something I've been wanting to do for a long time now. I've got the gauges and sending units also and was hesitant about trying to put the fuel sensor in that old tank. This problem just got me moving again on the gauges project. The new tank seems a lot stronger and thicker that the old one.

More left field, I filled my sister in laws JD rider tires with "slime" about 23 bucks a gallon at wally world. She has a hawthorn tree, that has lots of long thorns that are like driving on a bed of nails. After she mows, the tires weep a little green slime, but hold the air.

Calcium is suspended in liquid? It will rust when eventurally punctured.
