8n with loader (auction win)

Hey guys, this is my first post.
I am 20 yrs old and just bought my first tractor on Saturday. It is a later model ford 8n with front bucket and rear backhoe.
I know very little about tractors, so I thought this would be a good learning experience/weekend project.
Anyways the tractor runs good and I have already dug with it for a few hrs.

Some problems I have addressed so far:
blew 3 hydraulic lines -replaced broken lines and changed hydraulic oil
brakes didn't work -cleaned grease/oil off rear pads and re-adjusted
rear axle seals leak -park on level ground haha
air filter hose missing -bought new air intake hose
needs oil change -bought 10-40
needs paint

The good things:
Runs good
Idles well
hydraulics work well
new front tires and 90% rears

I bought it an auction for $1600. Is this a good price for the tractor?

You did very well indeed. That is a very big bucket on the hoe and a lot of heavy metal for a light duty tractor.

I am currently going to school at the University of MN for mechanical engineering. It is my hobby to buy, restore, and resell any type of engine or vehicle I can can get my hands on. It is a good way to make some money on the side and learn about all different types of engines and drive systems.

Since all the gears and hydraulics work on this tractor, I don't really have a reason to take it apart. I will probably just repaint the tractor and fix things as they break.

You got a good deal. It would be best to store it under a cover, if you can..Don't worry there will be things to repair, if you use it..Be Careful, and enjoy. JY.

He never said he doesnt buy the other stuff as well. I dont see anything wrong with being young and buying the other stuff. When i was that age i loved booze, fast cars and fast women. Not the dope though. I should say, i had some good times back then with the elements i mentioned. Nice tractor!

Oh don't worry about the drinking and partying. I live on campus with a house full of 7 guys. I have had my share of fun

1600 for an 8n with loader and hoe? i figure that's a good deal.

can't fix the brakes till you do axle seals.. otherwise.. you got a front and rear brake if needed ( laoder and hoe )
