They are talking about the Hydro Transaxle Pressure Relief valve. I just installed one on my X748 because I use a Johnny Bucket. If I understand it right it releases the pressure on the transaxle if you hit someting while pushing. With the extra weight you need to add to the back end for traction & safety the tires may not spin putting the spike of pressure on the transaxle. I think it is recomended if you are adding more than 240 lbs of weight to the back using a FEL. Tractor Shovel, Johnny Bucket, etc. The valve part number is BW15044. You will also need a new freewheeling lever #M146148

Thanks for the information, I might should look into this as some of my 3PH implements are heavy loads too.

GJW has it right, to my understanding. My 40 Loader manual is very clear that the loader-specific valve is required, and there is also a sticker on the loader itself. On another forum, an individual posted that they tried to get away without it and damaged their transmission after only a few hours of loader work.

You can shim the charge (implement) pressure relief valve. The minimum pressure should be 924 PSI. Mine was 950 and I shimmed to 1200 psi. If you consider doing this, be sure to check your pressure first and add one shim at a time. Do you have the regen bucket kit?

I don't have any experience with the 40 or 45 loaders but I do have some heavy 3PH implements such as the new landplane grader and the Howard 60" tiller we tried them out the other day and with standard hydraulics from the factory we were able to lift the implement with a 180 lb helper on top of it. So not sure if shimming is necessary or advisable.

Can I ask where you got the shims? Did you just slide them on and then insert the relief valve??
