I replaced my drive on the 513 with the slip clutch about 3 yers ago. It was just over $200. This was an entire assembly, clutch, shaft, coupler. One note, this was not through the parts dept, but through sales since it was "whole goods". Unbolted shear connection on the gear box, bolted on the slip clutch and I was through.

Might be a case of no longer available as an assembly through sales. I will look to see if I can find the PO, for the number but it may take awhile.

I was buying shear bolts by the box. The best thing was not the cost of the bolts, but my time mowing. No more down time.

My how time flies, it was almost 5 years ago . Found the PO confirmed it was AG sales, not parts. Cost was $205.00 FOB Dealership.

Thanks for the info, are you sure you have the sn number correct? your sn indicates you have a model 523 rotary cutter not a 513! My guess is you do have a 513 but JD beefed some parts up in the drive line and this their way of capturing that information on a 513. Before I call JD back can you verify what diameter is the shaft that comes out of the gear box that would hook up to the pto or slip clutch? Mine is 1.375 inches across (diameter). If yours is the same I may still be in luck.

My bad, I was still on the first cup of coffee. The sn is ...513...
Shaft is 1.375 dia.

hope this helps. The same gear box was used for the 413/513 and 613 mower that year. A quick search has a couple of after market slip clutch drive shafts on ebay. don't know if they will work but they are about the same price I paid.

Well, time to go to plan B......driveline w/slip clutch as a whole good thru JD sales is no longer available. I can get the slip clutch thru parts, piece by piece for approx $650 NOT . I even had JD do a dealer search in US thinking maybe somebody ordered a SC then did not take it and dealer had it in stock, but I struck out there too! So gonna put the stump jumper pan on tomorrow morning and gonna buy weasler slip clutcth on way home tonight. Shaft size is correct but shear pin hole size on weasler is a 12mm compared to 10mm on JD.

Too bad about the lack of OEM. Now that you know the diameter I would hunt the local farm-garden stores (the farm side) I've seen these slip clutch shafts on the shelf.

On second thought: Did you look at the current models clutch offering? It wouldn't be the first time JD stopped a part series yet kept a compatible offering.

Almost for got to mention I picked up stumpjumper pan tonight. I did not think $80 was to bad compared to a $435 slip clutch until I saw the size of this thing. It is about the size of a toilet seat. However I was reading another thread from a guy with a broken PTO shaft that led me to a website that has yoke mounted slip clutch's in New york. So there still is hope thanks to all the nice people that use TBN.
