Toothbar - How much and where can I buy them

Again, I'm not saying toothbars are useless just that I think they are a bit overrated here.

I am not disagreeing with that either. The do get a lot of praise here. And I think what most people will tend to agree with (especially those that buy only new implements) is that for the relatively LOW cost of the toothbar, when you need it, it is worth every penny and more.

Me on the other hand, if you notice I dont have a $300 toothbar. I spent $70 and got 8 BOLT-ON teeth. Because I couldnt justify spending that much when my implement stable consists of....

A 306 bushhog....$200
A KK HD(700lb) rear blade...$380
A homemade ripper shank/subsoiler...free
A PHD.....$50
A hitch/trailer mover (homemade)....Free

So $300+ for a toothbar....not for me.

I also dont have a boxblade. That is part of the benefit of the toothbar without having a BB. I Had one once and didnt use it much. But then again, most of my dirtwork is NOT smoothing and leveling areas. I do more ditching, backfilling, and digging holes. So a BB wouldnt benefit ME much.

So I guess wether a Toothbar is worth it just depends on what you want to do. If you already have a BB, or are planning on getting one, then maybe the teeth arent much of a benefit.

I also like the teeth for convience of lifting stuff. I can wrap a strap or chain around a tooth or two and makes lifting stupp pretty easy:thumbsup:

I agree. It is the uncritical "get a toothbar" message that I am reacting to. The have a place but are so popular largely because they are the first thing anyone can afford after bringing the tractor home.

How useful is your grapple? What kind of project do you do with it. And how much was yours?

Don't get me started!

Slowly I turned, step by step.....

Wow that impressive? Are they expensive? Hard to hook up to your hydraulic lines?

Cheaper than most implements. About $600-1000 for one like mine. You just need some hydraulic hoses and quick connects ($100-150) to hook up to the rear remotes.

Would it be a chore to move your hand from the FEL joystick to the remote hydraulic lever to control the grapple?

Can you drive a stick shift car? Exact same motion moving your hand from one control surface to another. Muscle memory develops after about an hour of use just like in a manual four on the floor car.
