LD1, take that Lumen rating on the LED's in my post with a grain of salt. That is MAX lumen output, although its a factory rating the unit is being over driven, so it is less efficient.

That same unit is available in a 86W model. Only puts out 7500 Lumens, but at a 87 Lm/W efficiency.

Besides the 200W and 86W, it's available in 110W, 143W and 175W versions, with lessening efficiency as you increase the output.

For sheer lumen output nothing beats HPS. IF you can live with the yellow glow.

I think that is correct. I just cannot live the darn yellow:mad: If it wasnt for that, HPS would be perfect:thumbsup:

Agreed:thumbsup:

Also, a previous post mentioned the 200w LED and 14,xxx lumens. I think that sounds kinda low for the lumen output???? I aint sure but isnt MV and HPS BOTH produce more lumen per watt????

Edit...just looked.

A 100w HPS is 9500 lumens. So thats 95 lumens per watt
That 200w LED @ 14000 lumens is only 70 lumens per watt
A 175w MH is 12,800 lumens= 73 lumens per watt
And suprising A 175w MV is only ~8000 lumens...or 45 per watt

It seems that led ISNT the post efficient use of wattage. Add that to the high cost and poor light dispersion, its no wonder why they arent popular.

They do make gread flashlights though:thumbsup:

metal halide is in the range of 150 lumens / watt

i opted for the HPS yellow glow on my horse barn... as it cut down the number of bugs by 1000%. the mercury and MH lamps attract bugs like a magnet

i dont even notice the yellow glow anymore

Good point!

My yard light is HPS. I shudder to think how many bugs would be attracted if it was something else!!:D

That's good to hear. I have a HPS light that is waiting to go up on the barn to give some light to the yard and the pool. I hate having bugs near the pool.
