I've never had this problem before so........I noticed a mockingbird hanging around my tractor several times over a couple of days. On inspection I found a nest was built on the transmission housing. It was a bear to get to but I removed it and a day or so later I looked over the tractor again and found another one in the engine compartment up on the front left side. Removed it (eggs and all).

Now I used the tractor and parked it in a different location and the next day found another one in the same place by the engine. Removed it (again eggs in it).

Has anyone else noticed Mockingbirds being attracted to Kubota Orange? They're the State Bird here in Texas, but this is starting to be a pain.

Native, i dont have problems with mockingbirds but birds in general seem to be quite fond of my B. I have a pole build with open sides for the tractor and they do like to sit on the loader arms. not sure this may need to be investigated more...???

Just an observation, the Mockingbird is also the state bird of Tennessee. Orange is the school color of both states' major university, The University of Tennessee and the other UT, The University of Texas. Maybe those Mockingbirds are just loyal fans!

Dang- from the thread title, I thought it was about Kioti!

It's a little off topic but I had a real problem one year with humming birds. The stupid things would fly through the front door. Once they did they would get caught up in the vaulted ceiling where they would sit on the pegs in the wooden beams.

I finally figured out that I put a couple of orangish red Dahlias near the front door for the first time. Because they will not handle the frost they have to be dug up each year. So every year they would get randomly put in different places. The birds would see the reflections of the flowers in the glass on the front door and it was enough to draw them in.

It seams like birds like orange.

I think you are right about hummers liking orange. The other morning one came and hovered near the fender of my "other" orange tractor as soon as I opened the garage door.

A pair of mocks built a stick nest on my red and gray 8n's open engine compartment cylinder head-had to remove it three times (no eggs) then parked it next to the house where the cats hung out. Nothing since then-sold the tractor, bought a NH TC40S and built a shop to house the tractor but the mocks still nest in the grape vined pergola out in back where the 8n was parked. Extremely intelligent yet stubborn birds with an unlimited song book.
