Cross ref oil filters for Boomer 40 (MT40006977))

Bought a nice new Boomer 40 a year or so ago and it's time for the first oil change. Been around the block looking for a Fram, Napa or Wix version of the New Holland Boomer 40 ( yr. 2010) filter (NH part number: MT 40006977) and no luck with online cross references.

Called the NH dealer and asked him straight up if there were any alternatives for this tractor's oil filter...his response was 'I don't think so'.

So, I come here to the wise and worn as my last hope of not having to drive 70 miles to just pick up a stinking oil filter from the NH dealer.

Appreciate any eyes on this.

And for anyone wondering why the tractor has not had it's first oil change in a year and half... unfortunately my 'other' job keeps me on the road quite a bit and I'm just now reaching those 'first 50 hours' in the maintenance routines.

Why would anyone drive 70 miles for an oil filter that would ship via UPS, FedEx, or USPS?

Agree.. Nine bucks and change at Messicks, if I'm reading it right. Shoot, I'd have them mail me a couple of them, plus something else, like the hydraulic filter or something while they were at it. On your porch in 3 days? Priceless.

With the price of fuel these days? The shipping cost is just a gallon or two of gas.

Messick's online presence speaks for itself, and they do a great job with internet sales. But just about any New Holland dealer ships parts out every day, and many sell at or below Messick's posted pricing.

OK, OK, ... easy gents. My 'newbie' beanie cap has not yet arrived. Was not aware of Messick's. Now I am. Thanks.

As for the drive, I've got business up in Columbus, so it's not a parts only run after all. Plus, the hybrid gets about 50 miles to the gallon, so I'm still making out OK on this run. But I will certainly check Messick's for future needs. Much thanks for the thumping.:confused2:

For those who have an auto parts store close to home, or a Wal-Mart, this filter (MT 40006977) has the same specs and size as all late model four cylinder Hyundai automobiles such as the Accent and Elantra, also Sonata and Santa Fe. It should be in stock just about everywhere. I just bought a Purolator One for my New Holland Workmaster 35 and it fits just like the original. My tractor was manufactured in South Korea and so are Hyundai autos. I decided to add that information to this old thread since I landed here searching for a replacement. It may save someone else some time.
