I have to tell you, if you don't listen to talk radio you couldn't possibly know what's going on in American politics or government today. Much of what you think is hitting the news rooms of the main stream media and being reported on is a much as 4 years old for many people who listen. You just don't have the time or resources to connect the dots, and for many or the intellect. While the main stream is a 10 second sound bite talk radio does a in-depth look at the issues. What makes it powerful is it's not the radio shows opinion, the points are made in the words of the people themselves. When you hear someone say Obama wants high gas prices and wish they would reach $10 a gallon you say bogus, while we who listen have heard the speech many times and know the truth. While you say "death panels" what a bunch of crap, we picked the bill apart word by word on the radio and saw that's exactly what was in the health care bill. Now coming to light by the brilliant people in the main stream press. While in 1998 we discussed people making sugar against the law, or taxing soda's because of sugar, now its on the floor in NYC. Glen Beck put on a two year dissertation of history of the founding of the USA and the progress movement in the USA. Each and everything Beck discussed has happened, or is happening, that's just a fact. And it was covered and discussed many years before it happened. It connected the dots for 10's of millions of people maybe 100's of millions as to what is going on in government today. He in those two years eclipsed all the Phd History professors in all the colleges in the USA together. If you didn't watch over those years you could possibly know what's going on in the US today. Sorry, you just missed the boat. You don't know what you don't know.

"Here is what I am talking about when I often say the greens shoot themselves in the foot."

Sir:

You just made a ridiculous statement about paper and plastic bags, are you trying to tell us you think for yourself?

If you think for yourself than basically you're not thinking, you're just blaming, just looking for a scape goat.

It's the "greeens", it's the intellectuals, the liberals, etc. That's called blame and someone who has studied human emotions and their resultant actions will tell you that you are simply deferring your own inability to resolve your problems onto someone else.

It's a negation of individual responsibility and objective introspection.

Pollution? There are no pollution problems.

Tomato from the same distance from Fukushima as Tokyo:

The Japanese are absolutely petrified of nuclear, they are going to wind and PV.

Japan Nuclear Disaster: Crisis-Hit Country Mulls Shift To Renewable Energy

On Saturday, the last of the country's 50 usable nuclear reactors will be switched off, completely idling a power source that once supplied a third of Japan's electricity. At a time when temptation to set the aircon to deep freeze is at its greatest, companies and ordinary Japanese will be obliged to economize amid temperatures that can climb above 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit).

Nuclear energy seemed a steady mainstay of Japan's power supply until the March 11, 2011, tsunami crippled the Fukushima Dai-Ichi plant in the worst atomic accident since the 1986 Chernobyl explosion. Authorities have since tightened safety standards and refrained from restarting reactors that were shut down, mostly for routine checks.

What they continue to avoid telling us is that the No.1 reactor was already in meltdown when the tsunami hit. The fact that it happened due only to earthquake seems like the poison pill in this story.

So let's build more nukes and be sure to frack near them.

Ladia,
I think it's more pernicious than that. Look at Rush, he supports a corporate philosophy, and corporately driven organizations like Heritage, and they, in turn, support and likely feed him, 'the truth'.
This incandescent light bulb nonsense is just an example. My nephew thinks these bulbs are going to kill his family or some other foolishness. His father gets it from Rush and the "American Right".

Then we have individuals making statements about shopping bags and blaming it on the environmentalists.

This is a historically classic example of how the masses are controlled by the media and it's very dangerous, as I'm sure you must know.

We look at figures in history like Pol Pot and ask how can this happen in a society? This is how it happens. If we study the speeches of despots they always pit one group against another... with them ultimately benefiting in the end.

These talk show hosts are literally dividing this country and the xenophobia they create, the 'me and others not me' can only damage a society that then becomes ripe for plunder.

Polarization of a society is the first step to despotism and that's what is going on here. People no longer think for themselves, they just parrot what they hear and when they hear and repeat polarized blame we have fragmentation of a society, hatred, etc.

That's what we have now in this country and again, it's very dangerous.

Again, George Santayana's, 'those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it'

People are apparently easily manipulated by the "truth." While working down south in the Bible belt I was trying to find radio station I could listen to. About half of the stations were religious. While listening to some of the stuff they broadcast it suddenly hit me that I already heard the same think before, the same hate, the desire for destruction of those who don't have the same believe. It was in Saudi Arabia. In fact the southern stuff was way more militant and hateful. Made me almost puke. They call themselves Christians. What a joke. There must be a lot of people believing this demagogy because the station stay in business. Scary.

Why do you Gullible warming nuts keep pushing your agenda.

Here are the facts. NO MATTER what the U.S.A. does will NOT AFFECT THE PLANET.

We could all start driving around in Segways and horse and buggies tomorrow and the rest of the planet will continue doing what they do.

SO Al Gore wants to collect thousands from me, while Mexico dumps every carcinogen, pollutant, Acid, Poison, known to man in The Rio Grande - oh including dead bodies. But that doesn't bother Al Gore of the Gullible warming nuts because they can't collect money from Mexico.

Now lets talk China, and how they Pollute - really do I need to go into that one.

How about India, you know another small Country. At Alang in the State of Gujarat in India they beach ships and dismantle them and dump every pollutant from that ship in the Ocean waters, along with 9 year old kids working 18 hours a day burning torches while they cut the ship up. Again Al Gore can't collect from India can he.

Wanna talk about Russia, NAH, that would be common sense, but go ahead and try and tell me ho "green" they are.

So the fact is Mr. Gullable Warming Nuts, you are wasting everyones time crying about saving energy, and pollution ad long as 90 percent of the world does NOTHING.

You comment I'm assuming will be....well we should do SOMETHING? And that's better than nothing. Unfortunately it's like spitting on a forest fire.
