Iowa utility proposed building 540 MW nuclear plant for about 2 billion. Typical cost overrun for nuclear plant is 75%. So final cost will be rather close to 4.5 billion. It will increase my electric bill by about $70-150/month if not more. Would you want to live near one. I wouldn't. The issue is not only radiation but the heat and moisture expelled from the cooling tower. It changes micro-climate 50 miles downwind.
At current cost of solar systems it makes economical sense to get one. China is pumping about 1.5 trillion in solar.

How about India, you know another small Country. At Alang in the State of Gujarat in India they beach ships and dismantle them and dump every pollutant from that ship in the Ocean waters, along with 9 year old kids working 18 hours a day burning torches while they cut the ship up. Again Al Gore can't collect from India can he.

Wanna talk about Russia, NAH, that would be common sense, but go ahead and try and tell me ho "green" they are.

What are you talking about? The US is the second biggest polluter after China BUT China has a lot more people. We use 25% of the world's energy.

52% of our energy comes from coal and coal is a monstrous polluter. I've shown data proving this.

As for China, we can't change what goes on there but does than mean we should add to it?

You do realize that if you propose heating from dinosaurs, or any other source, you are accepting that the planet can be changed from human activity too.

According to a study done in the north since 1975 temps have increased. This is greatly effecting places like the adirondack moutains. Whether it be man made or Martha stewarts cooking the weather is changing and society isn't helping. I figure, what the hey, atleast some fat cats will be rich in the end even if their $$$$$$$ isn't worth squat.

I think it's more pernicious than that. Look at Rush, he supports a corporate philosophy, and corporately driven organizations like Heritage, and they, in turn, support and likely feed him, 'the truth'.
This incandescent light bulb nonsense is just an example. My nephew thinks these bulbs are going to kill his family or some other foolishness. His father gets it from Rush and the "American Right".

Then we have individuals making statements about shopping bags and blaming it on the environmentalists.

This is a historically classic example of how the masses are controlled by the media and it's very dangerous, as I'm sure you must know.

We look at figures in history like Pol Pot and ask how can this happen in a society? This is how it happens. If we study the speeches of despots they always pit one group against another... with them ultimately benefiting in the end.

These talk show hosts are literally dividing this country and the xenophobia they create, the 'me and others not me' can only damage a society that then becomes ripe for plunder.

Polarization of a society is the first step to despotism and that's what is going on here. People no longer think for themselves, they just parrot what they hear and when they hear and repeat polarized blame we have fragmentation of a society, hatred, etc.

That's what we have now in this country and again, it's very dangerous.

People are apparently easily manipulated by the "truth." While working down south in the Bible belt I was trying to find radio station I could listen to. About half of the stations were religious. While listening to some of the stuff they broadcast it suddenly hit me that I already heard the same think before, the same hate, the desire for destruction of those who don't have the same believe. It was in Saudi Arabia. In fact the southern stuff was way more militant and hateful. Made me almost puke. They call themselves Christians. What a joke. There must be a lot of people believing this demagogy because the station stay in business. Scary.

The south is a pretty big place. If you can be more specific, we be able to nail that down a bit, perhaps with the help of TBN folks living in the area. We may be able to find some of that radio online, and listen to an example.
