They made a mistake and gave me four. Doesn't matter anyway since everyone else has the same key!!! Just ask the neighbor if you lose yours.

All the more recent keys on Deere's fit each other. My 110 fit the 3120, but neither fit the (older) 5410. I never tried the lawn tractors, but I guess I could.

Every new tractor I bought came with two, every used one came with one :confused2:

Actually I prefer to have three keys to every machine. I always have one on me, my father has one and there is one designated for each machine either left in the machine (when its in the barn) or left in the house at the main farm so no matter what I can always find a key if I need one.

I do have 4 keys to my Kubota, it came with two and when I ordered an extra from Messicks they sell them in pairs so I have an extra, extra. Today I bought two keys for the excavator and they were $4.30 each from Bobcat of Erie. The key for my Farmall 45A was about the same price as well. The sad part is that "all keys are the same" except for my equipment. I have a Ford 1920, New Holland TN65 and Case-IH Farmall 45A. All are from the same parent company but all three use different keys. The farmall key looks identical to the TN key but is slightly smaller so the TN key won't work in the farmall (never tried the reverse). The Deere harvester is different, Kubota different, Bobcat different....:( My pocket sure would be happier if I didn't need so many keys

I got 2 red keys with my 2012 tractor. i even got a free keychain with a minature john deere articulated farm tractor attached to it. sort of like a small matchbox car type tractor. pretty **** cool. I dont use that one though becuase it bangs around inside the cab and makes noise against the dash

I bought a 1023E and it had one key. When I tried out the tractor the dealer had a key in his pocket that fit other units. So it apparently fits more than one machine. I asked the dealer for more keys and he reached in a drawer under the sales counter and handed me about 4 extra keys. You should get as many as you want free for the price you have to pay for the tractor.

It almost seems silly to have keys for the tractor with the exception of keeping children from starting the tractor. Since they are all keyed alike, and when the ignition gets older, you can practically start the tractor with a screw driver. All of the military vehicles that I drove for years had had a simple turn to start switch like a tractor. To the left for the glow plugs, and to the right to start. They then had a retractable cable that was attached to the vehicle that you would lock through the steering wheel with a padlock. As far as I can tell, they have been using this system since about World War 2, and if you lose a key, you cut the padlock. The only reason I say this, is because they are all keyed alike, and that makes it tricky if you are taking the key out for security purposes so it is not stolen. I do however agree with having it locked all of the time, if there is any chance that a kid could climb on the tractor when you are not around. I have seen a few tractors over the years started by kids, and driven around a field. My friends sister actually drove one through the side of a barn when we were kids, and she got very lucky. Anyways, sorry to go off topic, but I would make sure that you have several spare keys, because depending on the ignition, sometimes, the keys have a tendency to fall out when you hit a large enough bump. Take care, and enjoy that new tractor!

got two with the higher end tractors and mowers - got one with a JD walkbehind but asked for a second and was handed another key - no questions no problem. i wonder if the manual has anything in it that would be make for your position?

There's a reason for military vehicles not having a key I would assume. Suppose someone accidently took a key out from habit and then there is a fire fight while your fumbling looking for a key.
