Long white space at top of forums

Thanks for the updates. We're working to get this resolved but unfortunately with an intermittent problem like this that only happens once every day or every two days, when we make changes we have to wait an entire day to see if they worked.

No, the mobile apps should not be affected since this is an issue with the forum style, not the actual forum itself.

yes its back. I also got a popup from voicefive for a survey that scrolled down on its own and stayed there for 10 seconds and disappeared. I have a popup blocker enabled in my browser and this somehow went past the blocker. I m gonna see if I can update it or something. The search function doesn't seem to be working properly either as it showed zero results of the search white for this forum.

As the advertisement for that certain blue pill says if lasts for over 4 hours call the Doc.

For those using TBN with a laptop and a touchpad the scrolling must be screamingly irritating, I use an external corded mouse with mine so the scrolling isn't too much a problem. How does this affect those using an Iphone or other device?
Well no, you could do what I do and drag the scrolling box down on the right hand side of the internet browser.

For the record though, it is back again this morning. Darn it...

Hi

You should not have to wait a day. I don't want to tell you how to suck eggs :) I do appreciate your work in running this forum.

You do have a test machine with a web server with the same version of the forum software on it? Just make the changes on the test machine where you can then completely stop and restart the webserver so as to eliminate any caching of the older web pages. I had to do this for a dynamic website that ran perl scripts. The web server cached the older scripts in its memory.

Between the production system and yourself you prob also have some caching by your local ISP so that changes on the production system may not appear immediately. I don't know your setup - I'm only guessing.

I presume these changes are to the HTML templates and / or the CSS they import. It should not be too hard to track down what HTML element and CSS attribute for that element is causing the white space.

First thing though is prob replicating the problem not using the production site.

POSTSCRIPT: A few mins after I made this post I now see its fixed again :)

Best wishes
Mike

Agreed. I do this kind of thing for a living and NEVER make changes to a production environment. Everything is coded, then tested in a test environment first.

Is it just me, or is TBN really strange this morning? The white space is back, I am seeing weird colors in the print, and thumbnails for attachments show a red X and when I click on them I get an invalid link message?
