HST Creep on Slope

yep, they creep....but only till they reach the bottom of the slope....then they usually stop...:)

Well, a tree on the way down would do it too:laughing:
Or the side of your garage:eek:

Just a heads up to all HST owners. Supposedly if you leave the engine off and the brake off the HST will creep forward and pump the oil out of the HST and allow it to then freewheel (or nearly so). I have only read about this but thought it was worth a mention. I get off of my tractor on a hill and I set the brake and leave it running.
yeap...Mine will creep too... even with the brake on and running. I will usually lower the box scraper, set the brake and dig the bucket into the soil when working on my slopes.

I haven't seen a hydrostat tractor or mower that doesn't creep. Once put my ol' JD 425 on a trailer, it was slightly higher in the front than in the back, and forgot to set the park brake before getting off the seat to tie it down. Next thing I knew it was zooming down the ramp of the trailer, thank God no one was standing at the back of the trailer.

If it creeps with the brake on somethings not right.

Mine doesnt move if the brake is set, engine running or not. I love the brakes on this tractor.

can't help but giggle at that one...knowing no one got hurt of course. A good warning and something to keep aware of.

Have to agree there...might need to adjust the parking brake if it does not hold or could it be possible the HST pedal is out of adjustment a little and engaging??

Being in BC I have some wicked slopes and my parking brake will hold the tractor on these hills w bucket in the air, BH attached and ballast in rear tires. I have to give the pedal a good solid push before locking it but the tractor holds, facing uphill or down hill.

agreed, steep slope, engine off, brakes set hard....no roll
That's the way it should be.
