Tractor
Kubota L2800
When I raise/lower the FEL, brush hog, or steer the tractor when moving I get a shaking or shuddering feeling. It seems to lessen if I run the engine at a higher RPM. I bought the tractor new in 2006 and it has 200 hours on it, so I don't use it a lot, but I do run it at least a few hours each month - more in the Summer.

I did the 50 hour maintenance, but I'm not a tractor mechanic. So just looking for suggestions before I have it hauled to the dealer for repair.

Check the rubber suction hose above your right foot. It is about 8" long and has a few bends in it. They crack and it will allow air to get into the line. It will cause what you are describing. The one on my L3400 has a crack and I bought a new one that I need to install.

exactly what happened to mine at around 200 hours. what was interesting was that shortly after i discovered the stuttering i came inside to do a quick search on TBN and within minutes returned to my tractor and found the crack in the hose. truely a fantastic resource. it potentially saved me a trip to the dealer and alot of money!

Make sure you're not dead ending the hydraulics. Do you have rear remotes? Did they get pushed to on with nothing connected?

Bet a dollar it is the suction hose, take it off and wrap some of that silicone tape around it until you can get a new one. I have one around here somewhere still in the package, I don't have the tractor anymore.

Thanks everyone, I checked the area above my right foot (above HST pedal) and I am not seeing a rubber hose. It was a little dark, so I'll try again tonight. Is it easy to find or tucked way up?

I don't have rear remotes (that I am aware of). Only thing I can add, is that it seemed to happen after I took off my blade and put on the brushhog - but that might just be coincidence.

it is kind of an L shaped hose, and usually painted grey from the factory, about an inch across maybe 1 1/4 in plain view.. but you may not have thought it a hose because of the paint..inboard from your right foot and of course a little ahead of your foot. Known trouble maker, and an easy fix.

If you look under where your right foot rests you will see it. I have a new one in the bag for my L3400 becuase I know it will fail at some point. As the others said it is very likely the answer to your problem.

Thanks everyone, did not see it at first since it was painted gray. It was oily so I'm sure that's the problem. Will buy or order one omorrow. Noticed today its making a grating, grinding kind of noise when i raise the FEL in addition to the shudder.
I hope nothing's been damaged.

Let us know if you have any trouble getting one, but the dealers usually keep plenty on hand. If you do have trouble I will dig out my spare, I don't need it any more. Just curious, have you been greasing (and all the zerks taking grease) every 10 hours of FEL use? It will make noise if the pins are dry.

I had the exact same problem with my L3400, I would bet a 10 spot on the hose. Change it and an instant fix, only wish I had beleived everyone sooner. They were also correct about the sight glass...

Hose and two clamps was $35 (with tax) at my Kubota dealer. But way cheaper than hauling the tractor to the dealer! Do you guys think I can change it without draining all the fluid and just catch some in a pan?

From what I have heard, you will lose about a quart, you might try parking the tractor on a sideways slope, that slopes away from the hose and see if that helps.. I have never changed one.

No need to drain... this is the suction hose and didn't have fluid in it.

An extra sight glass if yours is not upgraded, yet. Might as well get another air and fuel filter... what's your next oil change? Get the filters now...

Can you give me the part # on this hose. Messicks told me their are two of them in that area, one steal, and one rubber, and neither are l shaped.

Should be TC220-33330 - Number 140 in the parts pdf ~$26 :D you should have asked for the one that cracks!!! :D (ps. not really impressed with your dealer, did you tell him what was happening? he should have figured it out since it's a very common problem...) Oops on EDIT, Must be a new guy at Messicks :p
