Kioti DK45SE hst cab
I had 35 - 3cu ft bundles of top soil delivered today. didnt think about them being very heavy until i went to offload the pallet. The rear end of the tractor started to come off the ground.

So being the nosy person i am, i looked at the bags ... however they did not list a net weight. So i got out my large material scale and weighed 3 bags.

61#
63#
63#

so if i average the load at 62# times 35 bags = 2170 # plus maybe 40# for the pallet and the forks weigh 400 # according to the manufacturers site.

grand total (best as i can tell) = 2,610#.

mind you i had to put the chipper on the back end to help keep the rear wheels on the ground, but dang if this tractor didnt lift what it says it can lift in the advertising. And it lifted it off of a flatbed trailer so it didnt just lift it off of the ground.

Yep, I find the curl function especially strong. I was prying a rock out on a pile of clay soil and the tractor was sinking into the ground when it finally popped out.
Impressive lift though, the 2700lb rating is at the pins, so you did well!

Good lift! You should add that to my thread on DK-40 lifting from a while back: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kioti-owning-operating/235711-whos-lifted-biggest-load-kl.html
Curious why buy your topsoil in bags instead of dump-truck loads? I can't imagine its cheaper by the bag than in bulk?
BTW, nice place you have there.

i had top soil delivered last year...took me a week to rake the rocks out of it. I actually got a bid to deliver some, but they wanted $250 JUST for the trucking fee. And i didnt need too much. With the bags i get nice clean topsoil, weed free to boot. This stuff is mixed with chicken manure and worm casings also....and bat guano. yum

Plus the center of gravity is way out there on the forks compared to material in the bucket.

Cool. I see you did, and some others posted there too to keep the 'competition' going....so far we have some BIG loads lifted!!

So, bat guano, for real?:confused2::licking:

Sounds like you have to speck CLEAN topsoil next time!:D
$250 to deliver?! From where? Canada? How much quantity are we talking?
Curious what the bagged topsoil runs and quantity/bag? Where did you get it? Home Desperate?
Thx,

CM

the problem here in north idaho is there isnt any top soil. If you dig down more than 4-6" you hit decomposed granite. Some people process top soil thru grinders and screens, but its very expensive. Then theres the trucking charges.

I had sand delivered to my stalls. a 10 yard load of sand costs $10, plus $250 for delivery charge. Kid you not. Thats what these robber barons charge.

These bags were from home depot. I mixed all 35 sacks into my garden today and rototilled it with some 16-16-16 fertilizer. Now i can plant a garden (corn, potatoes and pole beans to start).
