Synthetic Mobil 1 15W-40 vs 5W-40 Truck Diesel oil?

I'm running Mobil Delvac 1 full synthetic, and I'm very happy with it. I've been using fully synthetic Mobil 1 for years now in gas engines, now Delvac 1 in deisel.

^^ This. Call your local ExxonMobil distributor for Delvac 1, it can be hard to find sometimes. You might also check with any truck stops in your area. Petro and Truckstops of America have Mobil products available and will sell by the gallon in most cases.

I ended up getting 5W-40 Mobil 1.

To much PITA to find the Delvic 1 stuff.

Cheaper than my distributor and delivered right to my door. Not cheap, but the best never is..

You running your tractor in the Indy 500? Talk about over kill and I thought Rotella was expensive (Walmart.com: Shell Rotella Synthetic 5W-40 Motor Oil, 1 Gal: Automotive).

I question that also, and it's not true according to the gent I spoke on the phone to at Mobil. Different additive packages aimed at different markets.
Yeah, the Delvac 1 is expensive, but for me, an extra 15 or 20 bucks at an oil change is worth it, and there are not many fully synthetic heavy duty diesel rated oils available.

I am to my satisfaction... (information from an engineer at Mobile)...

The only outstanding difference is that Delvac1 has been tested against the stringent MB 229.51 specification... Mobil1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 has not, and will not be, but would pass... (It is packaged & labeled for a different market)...

Keep in mind the price he showed in that link was for 4 Gallons.

So it's actually pretty close to Walmart 5W-40 TDT. I forget what I actually paid. I don't know what it would cost in shipping though.

I have 2- 1 gallon sealed bottles of mobil delvac 1300 15w-40 oil that are about 10 years old. Is it still ok to use? I have a kubota BX24.
