i have a shop manual for a 8n tractor what part is it exactly called that i am replacing to fix this problem?
The hydraulic lift piston and seal/o-ring.
You might want to call a ford dealer to see how much it would cost you to have them just do it. I am reluctant to assist any further because I dont want to give you false confidence that you can do something your not able to. I dont want you to mess something up because you arent comfortable doing it but we convinced you anyway, and then nothing work properly.
If you have the manual, that is a good start. If you have the FO-4 manual, that is even better. And there are exploded parts diagrams in messicks website that shows every detail and every part. 8N FORD 4 CYL AG TRACTOR (1/47-12/52) Between those three things, if you cannot figure out how to change the piston, take it to a dealer.
