So tonight i went to start it up again and it took a while to get it started. Once it fired up i let it run for a few minutes then shut it down. I used a light test on the glow plugs to ensure that they were working and they are getting power and continue to get power once my glow plug indicator light goes out.
My dad mentioned to try and start it at full throttle instead of the half way position and as mentioned in the PDF copy of starting instructions posted by Malwayne55 it says it should be placed between half and full throttle. This seems to be working alot better, but as i posted before i want this tractor to run top notch.
What else can do I do ensure i have proper start up.

Replace the fuel filter. I know my Cummins 5.9 is hard to start when the filter is starting to get restricted. Just a thought

Since the tractor has 2000 hours on it, those glow plugs are probably coked up (soot from unburned fuel). Even with power getting to them, they may not be efficiently heating the cylinder.
Might be worthwhile pulling them out and cleaning (if possible) or replacing (better way to go, IMHO).
I've only replaced glow plugs once...in an ancient Mercedes Benz 240 diesel. The threads were pretty gunked up and it took quite a while to get them out. These aren't something you want to break off while removing.
So, if you do pull the glow plugs, take your time...backing them out and then tightening slightly (but NOT tighten...just a quarter to half thread) might help.

You are ahead of me with the fuel filter problems I had with my 855. I think the fuel filter bowl is similar or the same. Just use a wide pair of pliers to gently turn open the ring at the top of the fuel bowl. Mine was pretty tight, so I used a prybar and some light tapping to crack it loose. Swap out the filter element, and replace.
Then open the bleed screw to fill the bowl again and you should be all set. If necessary, bleed the injector pump as well. Hopefully you won't also have to bleed the injectors themselves.
Avoid my mistake and don't overtighten the bleed screws.
I stripped mine out and had to replace the entire assembly. Not a tough fix, but it cost me about $50 I didn't need to spend ruining a brand new filter unit. My old one had a loose elbow fitting that was sucking air. The 2nd new one works like a champ!ok so i ended up running out of fuel and i had to rebleed the system. I noticed the bulb was only 3/4 full before I bleed, after bleeding the system the bulb is 100% full, would this have caused my hard starting problem?
