The examples you site are either military or geo-political, well in the realm of defense.
Two things others debate as being at least a threat: Energy and our deficit/debt.
Everything funded by the government is political. Are you indicating Columbus was military defense? I thought it was to discover a better trade route.

So, you guys want to fund windmills and solar for political reasons?

Maybe that is not what your sidestep is supposed to mean, but then again, maybe the implications of my post were correct: tie it into the proper role of government such that most of the people from most ideological views can buy off on it, and you have a winner, but otherwise...maybe the funding is for political purposes.

But that is bad news given Solyndra...bundlers for the president getting loans when other parts of the government predict in advance when Solyndra will go bust nearly to the exact month....before the loan is made.

Couldn't you guys just found "Obama for President, LLC, An Energy Company" and give the money directly to the campaign, and call the lack of the other loss a cost savings for the people?

Compare the rationality of the above to that of my original post...maybe we really didn't have to go back to Spanish monarchy to decide what is appropriate under our constitution.

Climate Change Seen as Threat to U.S. Security

"Recent war games and intelligence studies conclude that over the next 20 to 30 years, vulnerable regions, particularly sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and South and Southeast Asia, will face the prospect of food shortages, water crises and catastrophic flooding driven by climate change that could demand an American humanitarian relief or military response."

"Army, Air Force Mount Renewable Energy Push
The Army and Air Force are committed to developing one billion watts of renewable energy on their installations by 2025, senior leaders from both services announced.

Fort Hood Looks to Sky for Renewable Energy
After a year of planning and construction, Fort Hood, Texas, activated a solar field of nearly 3,000 photovoltaic panels that will generate one million kilowatt-hours/year of renewable energy for 300 homes.

Air Force Moves Forward with Green Energy
The Air Force is on target to generate one gigawatt of renewable energy by 2016, and expects to have enough renewable energy to supply 25 percent of all installation electricity use by 2025, Air Force officials said."

Government Funding = Money from Taxpayers.
The government does not make money it takes it from you and me.

Interstate highway = That was more than paid for with fuel tax. Where did the left over go??? On & On you name it, space, canal, or what ever.

Again the Government does not have money other than what it takes from the people and spreads around.

Good. Keep it up. Come up with reasons that don't call what people breath-out a poison, and make little children cry about Polar Bears. The destination is what matters, not that every single person in the vehicle thinks identically, or bows down to the Gorical, or is willing to participate in Cap & Trade.

Let some of it go, and make arguments designed to appeal to the Right, and keep your fingers out of their eyes; eye poking interferes with point-seeing. The left already HAS the left, and should make their points and rhetoric appeal to the right, the people you don't have, whose assistance you actually do need to accomplish any great thing, because they out-number you, and can slam the brakes on the vehicle.

Oh, when we say we want all the forms of energy in our arsenal on a Monday, but screw-over coal on Tuesday, thump oil drilling on Wednesday, and battle fracking on Thursday, some on the Right will notice. Nah, nearly all on the right will notice. And they mark it down and another lie. Let it go. Compromise on that to get the alternatives going gang-busters, and when we have alternatives to the point no one can deny, everyone will see the importance of saving petroleum for antique cars and tractors.

More stunning insights from the guy who doesn't wash his food or grocery bags and then blames the "greenies" when he gets sick from contaminated vegetables!

Did you read the part about saving 4 million? How about the post in your own state where 22% of the electricity is from wind that you keep claiming "doesn't work".

When the military saves fuel they save lives, did you know that?

Alternatives work, right, left middle... who cares, it's about technology. Fossil fuel pollutes and pollution is the monster that is and will continue to bury us.

Where are you going with this?

NOT so long as the technology needs booster shots of capitol from the treasury. Until then, what the normal citizen thinks matters, and is is NOT just about technology.

If it is truly about technology, then technologists need the stop talking and hire publicists, and stop poisoning the well of discourse.
