The poultry industry in America isn't anything to be proud of. The poultry farmers are forced into what could be described as indentured servitude on their own lands.

Although the article is two years old, to my knowledge nothing much has changed.

Per the Tyson website, their company alone contracts with 6,800 farmers across the US.

Same here, two calves a year on pasture/hay and we will raise about 250 meat chickens. Up to 99 egg laying chickens and we rarely have eggs more than 2 days old, people just love the free range eggs and don't mind paying $4 per dz for them. Our meat birds are in big demand, not cheaper than the stores but clearly taste better, sell them for $4 per pound. All our animals have nice housing, well fed and will only have one bad day here.

The different Tyson chicken products in your grocery store likely came from different areas...... different live production areas serve different plants and different plants make different products for different markets.

Read the label on that Chicken Breast from Wal Mart or most stores and you will see it is injected with a high sodium chicken broth....at least that is what they call it...Look at the sodium in just 4 ounces...So if you wonder why you are gaining weight after eating chicken breast...there is your reason...

We buy our chickens from a local Chicken grower with no additives at all...

We try to shop at walmart as little as posssible but my wife needed mousetraps today (and all the stores that used to sell mousetraps have been driven out of business by walmart). While there there she bought chicken breasts. When we opened up the pack they were absolutely the biggest chicken breasts I have ever seen. That caused me to realize that the chinese have now learned to grow the biggest chickens ever. I am also sure that they have managed to incorporate lead into the process because they could not have used it all up in children's toys.
