Repairing broken cedar fence posts

I have split rail fencing, some posts are weak or broken at ground level, I've been putting in T-posts on either side to support them, but I haven't come up with a good way to fasten the T-posts to the cedar post. Drilling a hole in the T-post takes forever, they're really hard. Pipe clamps that are big enough in diameter allow too much side motion. I was thinking of buying large hose clamps but they're about $5-10 each for something that big. Any ideas how to fasten the T-posts to the cedar posts, or any suggestions on how to repair broken posts without removing them. My fences have chicken wire stapled everywhere to keep in the birds and dogs, so removing a post is a major project.

I think you'd be better off in the long going through the PITA of removing the broke post. I would tackle one at a time until it's done, maybe one each week end. It will look better too.

As far as the t-post, if you have a t-post on both sides of the rail, set them just over the top of the rail and wire them together, where the wire crosses over the rail and around each t-post (if that makes sense).

Another option is buy some thin metal, like " roof flashing", cut it to length and screw or nail it to the rail., home made clamp so to speak.

I have 300 feet of 25 year old split rail fence. Any post that is weak is rotten. The worst of it is pulling up the piece of post left in the ground when replacing an old post. I would just replace the whole fence. Drill new holes offset from the old post location.

Found a roll of perforated pipe strap in my tool box so I used that instead of hose clamp. I used T posts on either side of the broken cedar posts, then wrapped the top with pipe strap. Mrs Beez will be painting them to match posts, I'm not allowed to pick paint. The posts I reinforced are stronger than when they were new.

All the t posts I have already have holes in them for fastening fencing. Can you get different t posts?

I think you have what I would call gardening Tposts, they're kind of lightweight and either have little hooks on them or holes in them. The Tposts I have are heavy, they're pretty expensive, I think a 7' post is about $7 now. Not sure what's near you but go to a farm and fleet, tractor supply, rural king, etc and they'll have these Tposts.
