Well even though noone responded to this thread for a price check I bought the Winco for $600 and the guy threw in a Wallenstein PTO shaft plus a decent mount.
He demonstrated it, it ran fine. Like many other purchasers of generators he bought it AFTER a major storm, and put hardly any hours on it.

Congrats sounds like you got a heck of a deal. I was one of some that read your original thread starting post, however did not know anything about topic so had no comment. Maybe when you can post a pic or two and give us more feedback.

Just noticed this thread. You got a great deal on a solid generator that should run a whole house.

Depending on the surge rating of the 12PTOC you may want to temporarily switch off the biggest motor loads then bring them back after everything else is running, but the generator should run it all fine after that. Use big wire (#8) between the generator and your panel - if the run is more than 20-30 feet #6 will maintain the voltage better.

I got a similar deal on an older Winco 25/15 (15kw continuous, 25kw surge). I bolted it to the barn floor with its shaft sticking out a hole in the wall for the tractor pto. The house is 150 ft away and is connected with #6 wire and 60a breakers.

The key to pto generating is steady control of tractor rpm. Some tractors have rock-steady governors but some don't. I use a couple of these Voltage / Frequency Meters - one at the tractor and one in the house to keep an eye on things.

Did you find this one on the Baltimore Craigslist, by chance?

There was one (same as the one you have) just across the Bay Bridge for $600...
I missed it by a day!
