lol Dan I was told the same thing, but that was only after our rooster became known as stewie.

We raised two last year at afriend's house; one for her family one for me. This year she got too many people involved so I'm buying one all ready for slaughter. When I lost my chicken last week I told them I also want 10 of their meat chickens. They just taste so much better than what I can get in the store, plus II know what they were fed.

I am told the key is to never allow a "name" to be given, once you
name #285990 to "Huniebunches" your digging a grave and making a headstone and cross instead of calling a butcher ...:licking:

We raise a few at a time and I butcher them myself. We tried something new this year. We bought a bred sow and she had 11 piglets. They looked great and were running all over the place the first day. By the end of about 4 days they had all died. The sow had milk but I don't think the piglets could get any of it for some reason. When her milk dried up I butchered her.
Another pig that we had raised we also bred and she had 11 pilgets two weeks ago. She laid on one and killed it but all of the rest have done great. We already sold three to a petting zoo that hand feeds them starting at 10 days old.
They are fun to raise and the meat is outstanding.
