Dog People

Nah, it's not education, and has nothing to do with the law. It's called common decency and being considerate that a person keep their dog under control, and not make doo-doo in someone else yard.

Problem is, common decency and consideration, aint so common any more.

It 's an education thing. They don't know they are violating the law.

When I was a kid, we had a neighbor that let his dog run. Shame, cause it was a really nice dog. I think he got the idea to keep it in the yard eventually...

When it did it's duty in our yard, my Dad would get the shovel out and fling across the street in to the guys yard. Well, sometimes in landed in the yard. A couple times on his car, a couple times on the porch...

Funny thing is a few years later, we became good friends. He helped me rebuild my first engine, for my Grandmothers Karman Ghia.

Do what dad used to do to make the German shepherds crap in our side yard and not the front. He used to mow the side yard really close to the ground like a golf course. Then let the fron get a couple inches higher than that. After a few week s he mowed the fron yard down and the dogs were trained to the side yard. I let mine run loose here on the farm but they have over 1200 acres to roam on thats uninhabited. Of course all the others neighbors dogs do the same.

Return it a few times an i bet it will stop.

Don't hate the dogs for being dogs. They can easily be trained. My dogs roam the neighborhood, yet are trained to only **** in tall grass or in the woods. Nobody ever finds a **** from them in their lawn.

I can always tell when a neighboring dog has crossed my yard, I'll actually find some crap in a visible area.

What to so about it varies by owner, but often I've found nothing works. Dog collectors (they certainly aren't dog lovers by any stretch) often feel entitled and feel anything animal related usurps your rights. The fact is they are lazy and don't want to put in the effort to train them. All the rest is excuses for that fact. They know it and hate you for pointing it out. They think, in their twisted logic, you are trying to force them to stop being lazy even though you didn't force them to get a dog, they volunteered.

I just had someone yesterday say to me "I'm an aggressive person and accept who I am, so should everyone else". When asked where they drew the line of victims of aggression being "accepting" the back peddling began, yet stopped just shy of them personally. People are willing to do cartwheels to exempt themselves from their own moral standards.

A neighbor walks his dogs unleashed by our place in town 2 x a day. If you are out he calls them back from your yard otherwise they go where they please, literally. Got back to town a couple falls ago and my wife was upset cause of his dog messes in our yard, I picked up a bunch of it in a large zip lock, knocked on his door and gave him his dogs lost droppings back and now he always calls his dogs back weither we are outside or not.

Good one! To the OP, why do you care that they are mad at you? You made a reasonable request. As a responsible dog owner who does clean up after his pet, I hate hearing stories like this. :(

Question #1: Why do 'dog people' think it is just great for non dog owners to step in and smell dog poop all the time?

Owning dogs has nothing to do with it. I sincerely hope you understand that since you classify these people as "dog people".

The next time the guy gives you the finger, ask him if he's telling you his IQ or does he think your #1.

The dog owner has absolutely no reason to be upset at you. ANY time a dog own takes their pet off their property, they should have the resources available to pick up their dogs crap.

Something all pet owners should have it they take their pets off their own property IMO. NO excuse not to have a "poop bag" on you.

I stopped the girl last week and told her in no uncertain terms to not let her dog sxxt in my yard. She said she would stop it but now the whole family is pissed at me. The guy gives me the finger when I drive by his house.

Some humans just can't stand it when they have to take responsibility. I'd give him the finger back, he may need it

Question #1: Why do 'dog people' think it is just great for non dog owners to step in and smell dog poop all the time?

I happen to be a "dog people" and would/do take offence to this blanket statement. I quess all farmers think it's great for cars to drive through cow poo????

Question #2: Why don't they have the dogs poop in their own yard? I can answer that one myself, they don't want their grandkids stepping in it. But it is okay if mine do even if we don't have dogs.

Not sure if you're still referring to all "dog people" or those that would not take responsibiltiy for THEIR ACTIONS? I clean up after my canine family members and NEVER force them on others. I even clean up my yard, infact dog poo is a great fertilizer.

Question #3: If I walk out to the road to talk to the guy and pull out a pistol and shoot the little mutt on the leash as it is pooping do you think I will get in trouble?

I'm sure your just steamed about receiving that guys finger, maybe it was not ment in a bad way:laughing: BUT this statement does not make your argument look very attractive. If your walking through the woods and step in wild animal poo are you gonna shoot everything in sight  Hold the party liable for what happened not the pup. Sounds like they purposely walk their animals to others yards, so whom is really at fault?

From being a long time dog lover these people and others like them are turning me and my family into dog (and 'dog people') haters.

Just a rant.

Well I quess we could say we hate all teens because of the way they dress certain ones are gang twits others are punks. OR should we NOT lump things into a whole?
RSKY I understand your frustration but at the same time it looks like you solved your problem. Minus getting the finger from someone that you more then likely don't care for I don't see a problem  Unless of course they're {neighbors}doing midnight poo runs in your yard?

I think you should do what Jim Carrey did in "Me, Myself & Irene" and see how they like that. :D

i have neighbors like this too. i have 2 dogs myself but only approve my own dogs crapping in my yard. I guess its just white trash with no manners

Yup. I don't have neighbor's like that, but we did when I was a kid. My dad darn near went nuclear over it.

My daughter walks dogs for a living. She is meticulous in not letting dogs do their thing on private property. When they do in on public property she bags and takes it. Her problem is now more folks are putting flower beds and such on public property near their home, ie the median in a boulevard, and get furious if the dogs go there... Even in it's picked up.

Essentially they want to ban all dogs from urban areas for people without private yards.

I'm lucky... Three dogs on 120 acres. I have more deer manure than dogs... And haven't figured out how to get the wild animals to poop where I won't see it.
