Battery replacement

   / Battery replacement #21
I got a nice surprise today. I asked my neighbor to pick up an Interstate battery for me, he manages a auto repair shop and carries them and has said in the past he could get one at his cost. Today I came home and found a new battery with a note saying "for all the work you have done this year repairing the road this year have a battery as a way of saying thanks".

If you have an Advance Auto Parts near you, they have a battery for $136.99 plus you get a $50 coupon for future purchase and Free installation. Couldn't hurt...
Buy AutoCraft Gold Battery, Group Size 100, 770 CCA 100-1 at Advance Auto Parts

THANK YOU for that very useful link, there is an Advance Auto about ten miles distant and I just ordered that battery online...and I will certainly take advantage of that $50 coupon in the future.

Really appreciate your taking the time to do the research for me !!

Great neighbor! Good for both of you.

i order online from advance auto and use online codes for $30off. I get my $90 batteries for $60. Done it on at least 4 batteries in the last year. You buy online then pickup in person.

Just picked up my new battery from Advance Auto, final price with discounts and sales tax came to just under $146...the side vents are what made it so costly. Other pic shows OEM battery under rear seat, from what I have read GM installed it there to make it easier to power side air bags and rear air ride...probably shifts some weight to the rear axle too.

Is the little yellow wire with the circle tab for your new lights?

Nope, that is the one for the trailer lighting power module that is in the trunk of the car. I attach it to the terminal on the fuse/relay center that is the black box in the lower left corner. The driving lights (another posted thread) are for the GMC. I removed the trailer module connection prior to swapping out the batteries. The attachment shows the lighting module with the power connector at the yellow crimp terminal.

You have a sharp eye, noticing that wire in the other picture !

Bill,
When I was young, too many years ago, my curriculum in college didn't have time/room for very many elective/fun courses. But I did take one in photography using a 4x5 view camera since I had been developing and printing pictures, as a hobby, since I was a little kid. One of the most valuable lessons learned was from having your head under that black cloth behind the view camera, seperated from the world, and really seeing the detail in your composition before putting the film holder in and pushing the shutter cord.
That was a very valuable lesson for the many other facets of life as well.
Many of your threads start with interesting questions that result in some very useful opinions and experiences of others, that are worth further research to verify the validity. Others turn into push and shove matches which are entertaining for awhile. I haven't looked at all your threads, by any means, but when they pop up on the "today's post list first page" I usually take a look, and sometimes participate.
Hope you don't mind if I sometimes don't agree? Some folks think it is "there way or the highway", so they learn nothing new, but from my observation you have thicker skin than that.
Ron
