The pump on my Ryobe pressure washer locked up so I am looking to replace it. I only paid 400 bucks at HD for this unit on special and have had it a number of years. The Suburu engine still runs good so I think it's worthy to put a new pump on but I have issues going with the same make pump.

First off, with the 7hp engine, the manufacturer has rated it 3000 PSI, 2.7GPM. The AR 98566001 pump has "max 3500PSI, 2.7GPM" on the brass valve body. Homelite also used this pump.

Looking for this pump is like pricing bed mattresses. No real specs and priced around 270-300 bucks if in stock.

The engine has a 3/4 shaft with the smaller hp bolt pattern. I found a CAT 3DNX27GSI rated 2850/2.7 for about 280. Anyone knowledgable with pumps think this would be a good choice?

I want to keep it under 300 dollars. I was pretty happy overall with the Ryobi's performance. If I loose a little, no big deal for the right price. Even a low buck model will do if it gets me a few more years of washing.

I welcome all suggestions and souces if you have a good one.

I've always heard Cat's were the best. If the shaft and bolt pattern fits, I would say that works. I think the Suburu is worthy of an investment in a new pump. My Honda 2400 is about 12 years old and has been hammered-no. 1 son did a painting business when he was in college-need I say more. The pump finally crapped out and I bought a new one about 3 years ago. Its an Innoveri-or close to that name- Made in Italy. I figured a Honda-or in your case a Suburu would be worthy of the pump investment.

That's what was oem on my washer, the AR or Annovi Reverbi. I don't know much about them but it looks like this one was a "cheaped" mass market pump. I can find them on line but I cannot match up the number on AR's website.

When I do see them on line, there are no specs, just the pump and the price. As I mentioned, the brass body says 3500 psi/3.5 gpm max but like horse power and miles per gallon ratings, pumps and washers are all over the place.

The matching AR's I found are 270-305. I would rather put that towards a better known pump with straight forward marketing.

Kind of like putting tires on my 225k mile truck. I want a good tire but it's not worthy of a high dollar brand.

Well you got my interest-I pulled my file and it was 2007 that I replaced it- an AR XMV3G25D-F25. $275 from pressureparts.com. Still going strong.

I will look into that model. I don't think mine had a bypass valve nor do I know exactly how they work. If I understand these pumps correctly, what kills them is the motor running full tilt while not spraying water for more than a few minutes.

I always tried to not do that but I did use the pump alot so maybe it just plain wore out. The oil foamed out one day all frothy from water. That was the end of it.
